i got my piranha tank set up and not sure if i can put an algea eater is it safe?? there only 1.5inches long right now in a 5 gallon tank ( moving them into a 30gal when they get bigger ) is it safe for a common pleco or is there a better algea eater for the tank

My African Reed Fish Has been Acting very Strange its been floating around the top of the tank with its head slightly above the water. i thought he may have been hungry but he wasnt interested in the bloodworms i gave him. whats wrong with him?
