  • Why would electronic cigarettes cause coughing?

My mom has been a regular cigarette smoker for 60 years and is trying to quit by switching to electronic cigarettes first. However, every single time she takes a drag off the e-cigs she has a little coughing fit. This does not happen with regular cigs. Has anyone run into this problem? She bought the same % of nicotine as in her reg cigs.

We did call the company that we bought them from and they suggested it could be a transition thing, or that she is allergic to the liquid in the cartridge. However, she is 75 years old and has never had an allergy to anything in her life. Seems doubtful that is what it would be now.

Does anyone know how many weeks the transition of coughing could take before it stops?

    Thanks so much!

If so, what channel do I need to go to? We can't find it in the sky guide, but it has to be there somewhere!

  • Can I make my gym change my membership fees?

They are offering a lower monthly fee to new customers right now. Can I not make them sign me up for that and thereby lower my monthly fees? I checked the Consumer Rights website but couldn't find anything.

  • At home work that is for real?

Is there anyone out there that actually makes real money on one of those 'work from home' sites that keep bombarding my inbox? And I'm not talking $20 a month, but real money. I'd love to hear from you if you do! I'm looking to supplement my income, but am a single mom that can't really get away from home after hours very much. So, working from home would be perfect, but it seems most of these things sound like scams, but I can't help but wonder if someone isn't making it for real.

  • I need to rehome my dog...?

and it is breaking my 10 year old son's heart. We simply don't have the time or space for him since we moved from a house into an apartment. He is a 90lb. german shepherd. He needs space and attention. Does anyone have advice on how to help my son. I'm trying to explain to him that it would be selfish to keep the dog. That he needs more than we can give him now. He thinks I just want to throw the dog away, but I've assured him that I would only give him to people that I've screened carefully. My son is with me half the week and his dad the other half, so he only has 4 days a week with the dog at my place. And out of those 4 days he has sports or friends that keep him busy. So, his actual interaction with the dog is limited to about 15 minutes of play or cuddle time each day. He just really loves that dog and the minute I try to talk about rehoming him he starts crying. I'm afraid that unless I can bring him around to supporting the rehoming he will resent me for giving his best friend away. This could be one of those childhood things that you never really get over and I don't want to do that either. But at the end of the day the dog needs a new home. I can't see a way around it. I work out of town. A friend walks him during the day and most evenings for me, but she is having her first baby in May and will be off walking for a few weeks at least. Plus, if anything major were to go wrong with this dog I couldn't afford to pay for a huge vet bill. I just did that last October to the tune of $1200 and I'm still recovering from that. I took a paycut last year for various reasons and simply don't have much extra. So, this dog would be much better off with a family in a house with a yard and a doggie door. Any advice on explaining this to my son so he can get over this is appreciated.

  • Can a Native American Indian go to the US despite a criminal record?

He is a Canadian citizen, but also Native American Indian. This means that as per the Jay Treaty he can cross into the US freely and even live and work there and get a green card. However, if he has a criminal record in Canada, does this somehow allow the US to bar him from entering? I have looked online and just can't find the answer on the Consular websites and I've sent them an email and haven't heard anything back.

  • My German Shepherd came home with skin and flesh missing after his walk.?

He went for a walk in the woods with a friend of mine. She noticed nothing unusual until he jumped out of the car at my place. It wasn't bleeding and he didn't seem to know he was missing a part of himself! It was about 1.5" x 2" in an oval shape. Bright red, not bleeding, skin missing. When I took a closer look I could see that there was also a chunk of flesh missing. I would say about 1-2 teaspoons worth! And some of that is missing under the surrounding skin, so there is kind of a bit of skin with no flesh under it. It's pretty nasty. I sprayed it with a Healing Resin that we use on horses all the time for flesh wounds. I have not gone to the vet - and please don't berate me for that. I figure it would cost me close to $500 just to get him patched up. I just dropped $1200 on him in October when he got infected with Leptospirosis and spent 4 days in the hospital. I'm all tapped out and cannot spend any more money on this dog. So, other than suggestions of taking him to the vet I need to get some advice on what I can expect. This happened 3 days ago. I shaved his hair around the wound to keep it cleaner and easy to get at. There is no pus. After I started spraying the resin it did start weeping. The fluid is mostly clear with some pink. I am spraying the resin 3 times a day. He licks the wound a fair amount - it is on his side just behind his shoulder. It happened Saturday evening. The wound had been weeping through the night Saturday in all day Sunday. Just weeping that clear pink fluid. On Monday it stopped weeping. The flesh is reddish pink and clean, no sign of infection. The edges of the skin are dried up and also not infected. I have another product called Skin Renovator (made for horses but can be used in dogs) that I am going to start using tonight when I get home. Both the resin and skin renovator have anitbacterial properties and don't need to be bandaged. I have left the wound open to get air at it and allow him to lick it. He doesn't overlick, just once in a while. I figure that is how nature keeps these wounds clean and healing. I'm sure this is going to take a good couple of weeks to heal. My question to all of you is what can I expect to see over the next week or so. Are the dry edges of skin an issue? As skin is missing as well as flesh I am thinking this needs to heal from the inside out. Stitches would not have been an option. Too much skin missing to connect the edges, plus if you did close this up the flesh underneath would get no air to heal and likely infect. I am expecting that the flesh will heal with scar tissue and the dry skin will eventually shrivel off as the surrounding tissue heals. I would expect that there will always be a scar with no hair as that skin was ripped off. Am I on the right track? This dog is only 2 1/2 years old and good in so many ways. He has been a money pit though, between his allergies (that took $1500 to sort out) and the $1200 in October this pub has cost me more than my all my other Shepherds combined. And I've had about 3 others over my time. Anyhow, I appreciate any input you can offer - just don't get on me about the vet - I will not go into debt over a dog no matter how much I love him. Being a single mom $500 is just not within reach.
