  • Need help with thermodynamics homework?

    A closed, rigid vessel having a volume of 28 ft^3 contains 50 lb-mass of Refrigerant-12 initially at 100 degrees F. The vessel is placed outside where the air temperature is 50 degrees F, and after some period of time the temperature of the R-12 is found to be 60 degrees F. Determine the heat transfer for this process, the entropy change of the R-12, and the entropy change of the outdoor air. Is this process reversible, irreversible, or impossible? Explain your response.

    A closed, rigid tank contains 2kg of saturated water vapor at 100 degrees C. The vapor is heated by heat transfer from a thermal energy reservoir at 500 degrees C while a paddle wheel stirs the contents of the tank. The work input by the paddle wheel is 500kJ, and at the final state the water in the tank is in thermal equilibrium with the thermal energy reservoir. Determine the following:

    a) the entropy change of the water in kJ/K

    b)the entropy change of the thermal energy reservoir in kJ/K

    c)the total entropy change

    Air is expanded reversibly in a steady flow adiabatic nozzle. The diameter of the nozzle exit is .025m, and the air enters at 810kPa and 250K. The velocity at the nozzle exit is much larger than the inlet velocity. Find the exit-air temperature, the exit velocity, and the mass flow rate of air for an exit pressure of 160kPa.

    Since it's reversible and adiabatic, it's isentropic, so I solved for the exit temperature using the relation:

    (Pexit/Pin) = (Texit/Tin)^(gamma/gamma-1)

    gamma = 1.4 for air

    Texit = 157.29K

    I'm stuck after that

  • Where can I find the version of the song "Guantanamera" used in the Heineken commercial?

    The commercial where the guy gives a hot chick a Heineken and then dances with the old lady.

    As seen here:

  • Anyone know the name of these old computer games?

    I'm having a wave of nostalgia. My parents had a computer in the early/mid 90s, with all sorts of games.

    Main ones I want to know are:

    There was one where you played as Mickey Mouse and decided what he did for the day, such as going on a picnic. You had to prepare all the food first. If you called Goofy, Goofy would answer holding a banana and wouldn't be able to hear you.

    Another game was one where you could build roller coasters and ride them. When you ride them, you start out in the car, press a button and the roller coaster would start. It would show a picture of the riders at the end of it, and depending on the roller coaster, they'd be fine or look really sick.

    Another game was one where you could fly all sorts of planes, and I seem to remember that if you crashed, it would go to a cutscene where a doctor is standing over you and would always say something funny like "You got a bad case of hangnail from that one"

    I can't remember the names of any of these and it's bugging me SO BAD. Please help.
