knitting help for neckline?
Im currently making the lion brand knitted striped yoke pullover for my toddler and im so upset, i managed to finish the neckline and went to try it on, but its way too small for him, i cant get it over his head.
As im only a beginner knitter i was hoping somebody could share some advice on how to enlarge this neck section. I was thinking of binding off maybe 6 sts more on the front neck section, or maybe i could decrease 4 sts instead of 2 sts with the neck decrease as per pattern. As i havent knitted anything like this before im so confused and have no idea what i should do as i want to get this completed. I also dont know whether i should be changing the back measurement as well as the back has to match the front in order to sew it up
1 AnswerHobbies & Crafts10 years agohelp with knitted sleeve increase?
This is the first time im knitting a sweater and im stuck on the sleeve instructions which are,
With mc cast on 22 sts. Knit 5 rows, change to st.st, work 8 rows of stripe pattern.
at same time, increase 1 st each side every 4th row, 10 times and every 6th row twice, 42 sts. work even until sleeve measures 11 inches.I understand the increase 4 sts 10 times but what throws me is the 6th row twice part. So do i increase on 4,8,12,16,20 etc and also on the 6th row and 12th row? If i do the increases on the 12th row (being one of the row 4's and row 6) does that mean i increase 2 sts on each edge, i really want to get this right and appreciate any advice given.
2 AnswersHobbies & Crafts10 years agoNeed help with knitting a sweater?
Im stuck on neck shaping, pattern says Keeping in pattern k18 sts. Join second strand of yarn and bind off next 8 sts, knit to end. Working both sides at once, DECREASE 1 ST AT NECK EDGE EVERY OTHER ROW 3 TIMES (thats where im confused)
Part 2 of my ? is pattern tells you to sew the left shoulder seam and with RS facing pick up and k 42 sts evenly around neck edge. work 5 rows in st.st bind off. Then sew right shoulder and neck seam, sew in sleeves.
I dont understand this concept, wouldnt it be more logical to sew both shoulder seams, then pick up stitches, do extra 5 rows and bind off. I just want to get this sweater finished. Any advice or help would be most appreciated.
