  • LAN and wireless are not playing nicely together?

I just moved into a basement suite, and now share a wireless network with the rest of the house. The modem and router are both upstairs, so I usually don't have a very good internet connection. Let's call that connection NETZ.

For playing games over LAN, I have my own router plugged in down here. That way I can host things like Minecraft over our own little network. Lets call my router LANZ.

However, whenever I plug my computer into LANZ (I've disabled the wireless so the others in the house don't ask me about it), I can't seem to access the internet via the other connection. My computer shows that it's connected to both LANZ and NETZ and has internet access via NETZ, but my browser seems to disagree.

As soon as I unplug from LANZ, NETZ works properly again. I'd like to figure out a way to have internet access with NETZ, but still be able to leave my LANZ ethernet cord plugged in.

I hope that made sense. I'm not sure what else to say.

  • Is this power supply enough watts?

I have a 680W power supply which I believe has just quit on me. It's still under warranty so I'm thinking about getting it fixed, but I suspect that the problem might have been my setup rather than the power supply itself.

    Inside:

    ASUS P5N-T Deluxe Motherboard

NVidia GeForce 8800 GTS which is factory overclocked

    Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz

2 gigs of DDR2 RAM at 1066 MHz

    Two DVD drives

I run 5.1 surround with the on-board sound card, and I run my OS (windows 7 ultimate) off a RAID 0, with one IDE slave drive.

  • Unpaid training in BC, Canada?

My friend is at a job where she has to undergo 18 hours of unpaid training before she is paid for her work. I'm pretty sure this is illegal, and I want some proof before I start taking action. We're in BC. Thanks.

  • Fallout: New Vegas Respawns?

I'm wondering whether enemies and lootable containers respawn in dungeons in Fallout: New Vegas. If I clear out, say, a vault, will I be able to come back three days later to get more, new loot, and kill more enemies?

  • Xbox 360 S output, HDMI + component?

I want to output my video through HDMI, and my audio through the component to my speakers. I am hooking it up to my monitor, so I can't do sound through HDMI, and I can't do video with the component.

Is there any way to output HDMI video while outputting component sound? The cord has this little ridge that makes it so both cables can't fit into the back of the Xbox at once...

  • Multi Monitor Gaming?

I have two monitors set up as my desktop, and when I start a game, I'd like it to just span one monitor, and have my desktop visible on the other. I find that some games crash when I try this, and others try to stretch.

I have an Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS graphics card. Is there somewhere I can set this up?

  • Does evolving a pokemon give it EVs?

If I had a pidgey with max EVs, and a Pidgeot with max EVs, would they have the same stats at level 100?

Or would the pidgeot's still be higher, because it uses the EVs "more efficiently" or something?

  • Overclock Temperatures?

My dual-core CPU is overclocked from 2.66GHz to 3.2GHz. Under 100% load with Prime95, the temperatures are sitting at 47 C and 50 C.

Is this a good temperature? I'm pretty sure I have nothing to worry about.

  • How do I check whether my PSU fan has a sleeve bearing or ball bearing?

My PSU is a COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power RP-600-PCAR, and it doesn't have the original fan (it has one with a blue LED)

How do I tell whether this fan has a sleeve bearing or a ball bearing?

(The fan is installed horizontally, blowing air up into the PSU. It is a 120mm fan.)

P.S. out of curiosity: Does anyone know whether the fan connects to the PSU by solder or by unpluggable connection? That'd be a deciding factor on whether I want the fan replaced.

  • Power supply fan not starting?

The fan on my computer's power supply doesn't start spinning when I turn my computer on. If I poke it to get it started, though, it spins just fine.

Is there some kind of program I can download that will give the fan an extra boost at startup to get it going?

  • Is 60 C at idle too hot for my NVidia GeForce 8800 GTX card?

I haven't tested it while playing a game, but that's the temperature at idle, according to SpeedFan.

Is that too hot? I've heard that there's nothing to really worry about unless it gets over 90 C.

I have never had a problem with my video card, I'm just doing a checkup.

  • Computer power supply fan?

I just cleaned my computer's power supply fan with compressed air, and now it's not turning at all.

The power supply's fan is supposed to run as long as the computer is on, right? What could have happened while I was blowing air at it to stop it from running?

(I didn't blow any liquid at it. The can was upright the whole time, and I regularly checked by spraying the can into the air to make sure no moisture was coming out.)
