Enthalpy of neutralization, solution and reaction?
Are these all found the same way (q=m c deltaT)? Is enthalpy of reaction negative when enthalpy of solution is positive?
1 AnswerChemistry8 years agoHow to find the x-intercept for....?
y=(x-1)^2-4
(y equals x minus 1, squared, minus 4)
I am not sure if I did it correctly. Here's my work....
0=(x-1)^2-4
0=(x+1)(x-1)-4
0=x^2+1x-1x-1-4
0=x^2-5
so.....
x= -(square root) 5
But you cannot have a negative square root...what did I do wrong?
2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoWhat are the products and balanced equations for these reactions?
C12H22O11 + H2SO4 ---> ?
Zn + I2 + H2O ----> ?
This equation isn't balanced yet, but are they the right products?
H2O + CaC2 ---> H2C2 + Ca(OH)2

1 AnswerChemistry1 decade agoAQHA registration.....?
I have a mare whos "pedigree" looks like this...
http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/ray+of+hope5
*her dam is not registered, but grand-dam is*
Can she be registered as a part-bred QH? Where would I find the form?
Her dam COULD be registered but is not (just have to dig up some papers to find the sires name), she is in very poor health now and probably wont be around much longer. I do not own the dam. Does the AQHA have any rules concerning any similar situations?
Also, based on the parts of her pedigree that are filled in, what would you use her for?
I was thinking barrels as she has HUGE hindquarters and is a very stocky, low to the ground mare.
2 AnswersHorses1 decade agoBalanced chemical equation and "missing product" ?
For this reaction....
sulfuric acid + calcium carbonate ---> calcium sulfate + water + ?
is the answer calcium oxide?
also how would the equation be balanced....
H(2)SO(4) + CaCO(3) -----> CaSO(4) + H(2)O + CaO
***this is the unbalanced version, I cannot for the life of me figure out the right way to balance it***
1 AnswerChemistry1 decade agoDigital photo size? how to?
Hi all,
I am sending in a digital photo to a contest, and the rules state that, "digital images must be 300dpi minimum jpegs, (or if you are unable to determine file size) more than 500 KB"
So, my image is, "1.78 MB (1,872,806 bytes)", is it enough? If not, how do I fit it right?
Not sure if this is where I should post this question? Would another section be more helpful?
2 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoDo you believe a horse can be both?
Can a horse have the mental capacity and athletic ability to be competent and excell at
1) Western pleasure
2) Barrel racing (or other speed events)
Some people are going to gasp and say "no way, no how!" but I'm not talking about AQHA Congress here, larger provincial (or state) shows more like. I think that a horse can excell in both personally. One such horse that I know of is a 3rd D Barrel racing saddle winner, and a Hi Point Senior Western Pleasure horse at many a show. Maybe this horse is the exception, I don't know. So I do know that it can be done, just not on the extreme National/World show circuit (that I know of, perhaps it has been done). So basically what I am wondering is do you think it can be done? Why or why not? Any personal experiences would be nice.
14 AnswersHorses1 decade agoHair regrowth? How to...?
My horse (6 years) has a burn scar on his thigh from a smudge fire as a 2 (or 3 i can't quite remember) year old. It happened before we got him. It didn't injure the muscle bescause he still moves freely and well. The inner area of the scar feels...stiffer, I geuss you could say. We have had him for almost 3 years now and I think its grown in about an inch and a half.
We have used Eqyiss MegaTek Hair Regrowth for the first year and it worked verrrry well
http://www.tackroominc.com/eqyss-mega-tek-equine-r...
Since then we haven't been able to find it so we have used Hooflex and that keeps it well moisturized.
Here are some photos of the scar-

**this photo i do not own, it was taken at a "barrel race for the cure" jackpot**

So my question is, do you think that it can be grown in? By using which products?

2 AnswersHorses1 decade agoSame, opposite or round trip travel math question?
I cant decide if the formulae is same, opposite or round trip travel.
Two cyclists plan to meet. Their houses are 110km apart. Both cyclists leave home at 09:00. Cyclist 1 travels at 25 km/h, Cyclist 2 travels at 30 km/h.
a) what time do they meet?
b) where do they meet?
1 AnswerHomework Help1 decade agoSick Lovebird...curled feet?
Our lovebird was huddled on his cage this morning and he appeared to have lost the ability to uncurl his feet. He still has desire to eat and drink. We moved him from his cage mate into a smaller cage where we could monitor him. When we set the cages beside each other, the two were very excited to see each other, so he still is interested in his surroundings. He tries to fly but cannot balance with his feet curled up. His feathers are fluffed up and he appears to be shivering slightly.
What could be wrong with him?

We had two Finch's, brother and sister, who had lived together their whole lives. Today, one finch was killed by a cat. The other appears fine but we are afraid of him being killed from loneliness. How should we approach putting another finch in with him?
1 AnswerBirds1 decade agoWhat do you think of his pedigree?
What do you think of this guys pedigree? I've had him about a year and this year we are really getting into barrel racing more competitively and continuing western/english pleasure.
So i was wanting your opinion on him conformation wise and pedigree wise.

1 AnswerCooking & Recipes1 decade agoQuarter Horse pedigree "hole"?
I have a palomino Quarter horse gelding bred for cutting/reining. And on his dams side, there is a horse named Rocky Digger Bar (his sire is De May Bar) and his dams side is missing. I know it's a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone knew information about Rocky Digger Bar or knew anything about his pedigree? This one last hole is just really bugging me.
Here's the link to my gelding:

5 AnswersHorses1 decade agoVERY EXPERIENCED quarter horse people- pedigree question?
This link is for my quarter horse gelding. He is very relaxed, willing, and soft mouthed, just about ready to start in any direction I want him to go in. I ride mostly in speed events (pole bending, barrels, stake races) with a lot of tight turning. I was wondering if his pedigree gells with that sort of work. I also know what he was bred FOR but I would not like that to cloud your personal judgement of him.
Here is the link to his pedigree (and not a very good picture I'm afraid...)
