  • B1/B2 Visa Entry to the USA question?

I have a friend from Thailand that was granted a B1/B2 Visa to enter the USA. I was under the impression that to enter the USA, you must have a return ticket, however, when she checked in at the airport in Thailand, they did not issue her a return ticket. When she arrives in the USA will this be a problem, or is this because immigration will decide how much of the six months she will be permitted to stay?

  • I'm from PA and need to know how to purchase a used car in NY?

I live in Pennsylvania and want to buy a friend's car in New York. Do I need to go to the DMV in New York, or is there private Title Services like in PA? Does NY issue temporary titles for out of state buyers? Any info would be helpful.

  • How can I fix a drywall problem?

I had a new drywall ceiling installed in my kitchen. Since I am on a budget, the contractor that installed it said I can save some money doing the sanding after he is done with the mud and taping.

Well I did some sanding and when I "thought" I did a good enough job, I primed it and painted it.

The next day I could clearly see I did not do a very good job sanding it and now I can see the seam. I'm really disappointed considering how much time I put into this.

My questions, it's already painted, but I can sand it again? Because it's already painted will it be too difficult?

  • What is the best method to install new vinyl flooring?

I'm remodeling my kitchen. The orginal vinyl flooring is really ugly, but not really that bad shape. I want to put new vinyl flooring. What is the best method. I don't see the option of removing the old flooring but instead, putting the new floor on top of the existing. Should I just lay down 1/4 inch luan or is there a better, more professional method?

  • Can anyone help me with some airbrush questions?

I got an airbrush kit for Christmas which consists of a small air compressor, the airbrush and a set of Createx paints.

There is either a small jar or a metal "cub" that attaches to the bottom of the airbrush. The jar works great, however the metal cup, when attached, seems to tilt about 45 degrees forward. Therefore, you can not move the airbrush down without spilling the paint. I've noticed from some YouTube videos, a lot of people are using an airbrush which has the metal cup on TOP. Can someone please tell me what the difference is between the two? As I said the jar works fine but it looks easier to use the metal cup if you only want to use a small amount of paint. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  • Where can I find a FREE utility to convert PowerPoint to SCR?

I would like to convert a PowerPoint Presentation to a .SCR (windows screen saver file). I found many "demo" utilities on the web that will only work for a short period of time before you have to purchase them.

Does anyone know where I can find a good, reliable FREE utility to do this?

  • Passport requirement for underage child?

I am planning a trip this summer outside of the USA and would like to take my 15-year old daughter. After reviewing the passport requirements for an underage child, it states that the applicant and BOTH parents must be present at the passport facility to apply.

My daughter's mother and I have been divorced for 13 years and share joint custody. Although the mother would not object for her daughter to get a passport and leave the country, it's highly unlikely she would accompany us to the passport facility two hours away and make it an all day event.

If there any way I can do this without her participation? Is there a letter I can bring as a substitute?

This loophole will definately put a roadblock in our vacation plans this summer

  • How should I handle this repair issue?

    I am the owner of a 2000 528i.

Around six months ago my speedometer stopped working. The town where I live has one speedometer shop and is managed by a friend of mine.

Since the car is due for inspection in September, and it will not pass inspection if the speedometer is inop, I decided to get it fixed.

After letting the mechanic have the car for two days, they called me to tell me it was fixed. When I went to pick the car up, they told me the problem was not with the speedomoter, but the left rear speed sensor.

After I paid the bill of $250 (for parts and labor) I got in the car and drove off the lot, and noticed the speedometer was still not working. I quickyly turned around and took it back. The mechanic told me he will then need to replace the right rear speed sensor.

Since I could not part with my car at this time, I told him I would call and setup a time when they could perform the additional work.

The next day I did some research and posted a message on a BMW message board. It turns out the problem was a bad ABS module.

I had the module replaced and like magic, the speedometer works fine now.

My issue is, I called my friend to tell him that his mechanic misdiagnosed the problem and replaced the speed sensor that wasn't necessary. I was expecting him to offer some kind of refund or credit for future work becasue of this mistake.

To much of my surprise, nothing was offered and I was told "This was a part of troubleshooting."

Should I feel cheated or does my mechanic have a valid point? I was told by other's that they should have put a volt meter on the sensor to see if it was bad or not. Instead it looks like they just took a guess and replaced it hoping it was the problem.

  • Lima to Cusco travel costs?

I'm wondering if it's better to buy a package from a travel agent in Lima to travel from Lima to Cusco and go to Machu Picchu.

Does anyone know the average airfare from Lima to Cusco, a night's hotel stay and the cost of the train ticket from Cusco to MP?

Is it better to purchase these on my own or buy a package?

For security, I would like my wireless router to send out DHCP on a range other than 192.168.1.XXX.

192.168.0.XXX or others will be OK.

As far as I know, the Linksys brand only does 192.168.1.XXX

  • Illegal alien girlfriend is pregnant - what are my rights?

I am a US Citizen. A couple of years ago I started dating a woman who is now an illegal alien. She overstayed her tourist visa a couple of years ago.

About a month ago she informed me she is pregnant. (i'm 100% sure it's mine.)

As I love and care about this woman, I informed her I would do everything I can to be responsible, however she does not feel the same about me and therefore does not want me to be part of her life.

The baby is not due for another 7 months. She will not answer the phone or allow me to see her.

What are my rights? What if she decides to go back to her country before the baby is born?

If the baby is born in the USA, will I be allowed to see partial or full custody?

If I get the law involved, will she and the baby be deported?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
