Why are some automobile tires filled with nitrogen?
Two of my work associates bought tires that are filled with Nitrogen by the company that mounted them. The valve stems have green caps to indicate nitrogen inside, and car service companies without Nitrogen won't fill the tires with air. The rumor is that a Nitrogen filled tire holds pressure longer, but that doesn't make much sense to me because I think the molecules are about the same size. Besides, air is about 79% Nitrogen so what's the difference?

1 AnswerSoftware1 decade agoCan I put diesel engine oil in a gas engine car?
I got a good deal on some engine oil (in gallon containers) meant for diesel engines. The oil meets specification CJ-4. I have a Ford E-150 van with a 5.7 liter V8 engine. Will this oil be okay? I figured that diesel engines have a harder life due to the high compression, but I wonder how this oil compares with the gasoline engine oil meeting API service SM/CF. Thanks
