  • Painting high gloss bedroom furniture?

I'm redoing my bedroom from brown colors to black and grey. I have a high gloss finish dresser, nightstand, headboard and chest that's brown and part of a bedroom set that I want to paint black with a high gloss finish instead of buying a new set. What's the best and most efficient way to do this? How do I prep the surfaces since they are high gloss? Thanks!

  • Good beaches in or around Baltimore?

I'm traveling to Baltimore over Labor Day weekend and would like some suggestions on good beaches in or near Baltimore. I'm willing to drive a little ways, within an hour of Baltimore. Ocean City is too far. We only have the day on Saturday so I'm looking for a place not too far from Baltimore that maybe won't be insanely crowded (I realize that might be hard to find)... I was thinking about Annapolis or Kent Island. Any other suggestions, or any good beaches right in Baltimore are greatly appreciated!

  • do you HAVE to have a data plan for iPhone?

I currently have an AT&T plan with no data package on it because I never use my cell phone for internet. A friend is willing to give me their old iPhone, but would I have to add a data plan to my AT&T plan in order for the phone to work? Or will it still work, and I just won't be able to use internet? And can I just insert my sim card into the iPhone and be all set? Thanks!

  • best way to get from Atlanta airport to Athens?

I'm flying into the Atlanta airport and need to get to the UGA campus in Athens. I'm flying in for a wedding and already spending a fortune so I'd really hate to spend $100 on a shuttle. Anyone know of any economically efficient ways to get from the airport to anywhere in Athens? What do the out of town students do? Any info helps!

    Thanks!

  • one hour layover at ATL and ORD?

I am flying from Rochester, NY to Las Vegas, NV on Delta with a one hour layover in Atlanta. Do you think one hour is long enough to get to my next gate at the Atlanta airport? I've never been before.

On the return, I'm flying United with a one hour layover in Chicago O'Hare. How about for that one?

Any layover that is an hour or less makes me nervous. Thanks!

  • Courtyard Boston Copley Square vs Marriott Custom House?

I am redeeming my Marriott points at the end of the month while on a trip to Boston. I will be in Boston for one night, traveling with my boyfriend, and we are jam packing our trip with sightseeing, shopping, and a Red Sox game. Currently my reservations is at Courtyard Boston Copley Square, but the Marriott Custom House just became available. I'm more familiar with the Copley Square area and kind of already planned our trip around that area, but I hear the Marriott Custom House is to die for and on the water which I like. We will only be there for one night and we won't get back to our room til like midnight and we will be leaving around 9am. We want to get breakfast at whatever hotel we stay at too. It's a $30 upcharge to book at Marriott Custom House, whereas Courtyard Copley Square is free for me.

Is Marriott Custom House worth the change and hassle? Has anyone stayed at either? It will be my boyfriend's first trip to Boston and I want him to have the full experience. I don't know which hotel would be better for that.

  • good bars and restaurants around Fenway Park?

I am going to the Red Sox game on Tuesday the 19th. It will be my first time in Boston. The game is at 7pm and I will be in the area around 4pm. What's a good place in walking distance of Fenway to get dinner? Something casual, nothing fancy. Just like burgers and stuff. Something that wont be too crazy busy at that time, and some place we can hang out at to kill a couple hours before the game starts.

I'd also like suggestions on a bar in walking distance of Fenway where we can go to kill time after the game while the crowds die down before heading out. Thanks!

  • could i be sued for damages by a new landlord?

My current landlord is selling the house I rent and I do not have a security deposit with him. He did not require it. When the new person buys the house, no security deposit money will be transferring to him or her. If I stay with the new landlord or if I move (either willingly or because the new landlord makes me), could I be sued for any damages they find since I did not have a security deposit? Is there any chance that by the original landlord not requiring a security deposit, it nullified the chance for him to sue me since he's not protecting himself by getting a security deposit? What would happen in this situation?

  • does a new landlord have to honor my old lease?

I rent an apartment unit in a house and have a 2 year lease with my current landlord (I just signed it 2 months ago). My landlord recently put the house up for sale. When a new person buys it, does the new owner have to honor my lease with the prior landlord, or will the lease become void since the new owner did not create the lease? Thanks!

  • new stimulus: employer must pay you for 90 days after you're laid off?

I was recently laid off from my job and was told by someone that with a new stimulus passing, if you are to get laid off or downsized, your employer must pay you full pay and benefits (if you have them) for 90 days from the date you are laid off. It is separate from COBRA. I've searched online and can't seem to find anything. Has anyone heard of such a thing? It seems too good to be true. Also, I live in New York state in case this is a state thing and not federal. Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

  • Dog pee out of a light color microfiber couch?

I have a light tan color microfiber suede couch. My dog has peed on my couch three times in the same spot. I've scrubbed it out immediately after it happened but I can still smell the pee in the spot. What's a way to get it out for good? There's no stain, just smell.

  • Training a 2 yr old pomeranian on a litter box?

I adopted a 2 year old male pomeranian who is not fixed and not housebroken. I live on the 7th floor of a city apartment so I want to train him to go to the bathroom in a litter box since there is no grass outside anywhere. Is it too late to do this, and what are some tips for training adult dogs who are used to going pee and poo wherever they feel like? thanks!

  • checking in online with Southwest Vacations??

My friends have flown Southwest before and have always been able to go on their web site 24 hours in advance to choose their boarding spot and print their boarding passes. I just booked a trip through my travel agent with Southwest Vacations (flight + hotel together) and she told me that I cannot go online 24 hours in advance to select my boarding spot since it's a vacation package. Is this true? It's a 5 hour flight to the west coast and I want to be able to sit with the people I'm going with. I'm concerned that if I'm in the last boarding group, the plane will be packed when I get on. Since it's Southwest Vacations, is there anyway to preselect my boarding spot... whether it's by calling, going online, or even going to the airport the day before??? thanks!!!

  • Staying at the Grand Palladium Jamaica, Montego Bay... opinion??

I'm staying at the Grand Palladium Jamaica in Montego Bay in April 2009. It will be my third all inclusive vacation, and have only stayed at Riu Resorts before. What are your opinions on this place and how does it compare to Riu Resorts, if you are familiar? I LOVE Riu but thought I'd try something else this time. Thanks!

  • American relocating to Caribbean or Mexico to work??

I am a female graduating this December with a Bachelor's degree in Travel & Tourism, with a concentration in Tourism Destination Management. I am very interested in moving to a resort area in the Caribbean or Mexico, and working for a resort, ideally where they provide housing because I know that's pretty common. However, I'm not sure where to start. I've looked on jobs pages on some reputable resorts I know of, but found they had little info. I've also looked on Craig's List which is sketchy, and some work abroad web sites but their programs have specific requirements. I'll be a college graduate looking to go at some point next year on a short term basis (6 months to a year). Any info on where I should look or how to get started is much appreciated!!

Also, if you are an American and have done this yourself, I'd appreciate any advice/concerns.

    Thanks so much!

  • Vegas at the end of October? Swimming?

My boyfriend and I are going to Vegas for the first time at the end of October. We can't decide on a hotel. Is it warm enough to go swimming the last week of October? Which hotels have the best pools? My boyfriend wants to stay at Treasure Island but I heard their pool was pretty small. Which hotels have wave pools and/or lazy rivers and which one is the best? Thanks!!!
