I live in Tennessee...have four kids and three grand daughters. I enjoy traveling and most any outdoor activities, especially hiking and swimming. My friends are diverse....some in their early twenties and most in their mid thirties and just a few my own age...and most are people I have met along the way at my job. I really enjoy talking with people and would call my self a good listener and friend.

  • am i being naive about first date?

met a man on christian dating service. first time we tried to meet, he said he had car trouble & had to postpone. we still emailed regularly. the second meeting was set for 3 weeks later so we got to know each other a bit more through emails. on the friday night before the saturday date, he told me he wanted to make love to me all night. back the truck up! we hadn't even met face to face and i was on a christian site so this type of thing would be a non issue. when i told him that wasnt happening, he made an excuse about forgetting plans he made to see a movie that's been out of theaters for months. that really hurt my feelings. i had several men who wanted to meet but i chose him. christian huh? i blew up. did i miss something here or am i being naive? do people really act like this. i have been a widow for a year so am out of touch i suppose but i know right from wrong. he has not made any attempt to apologize or reach out with an explanation of any kind. this not only bothered me, now i am scared of a repeat down the road.

  • looking to pay of mortgage at reduced amount?

I have a 17 yr mortgage on a mobile home. although I had excellent credit, since i opted for a mobile home, the best int rate I could get was 9%. I have only 7 yrs left on the mortgage and wondered if anyone knows how to get a lower payoff amount since they have been getting so much interest and I don't have too many years left. It makes sense to me that they would work with me since my home value has depreciated (as most mobiles do). I have some huge medical bills pending and not having a mortgage payment would help. Also I have paid on this loan every two weeks rather than once a month.

  • feet swelling problem and need some help?

I started on HRT patch a week and a half ago and my feet and ankles have swelled up suddenly. I know it must be the patch. I am on blood pressure meds that help with water retention and also a seperate water pill but still am having this problem. I'm drinking more water to flush my kidneys also. I just don't know if this is temporary until I adjust to the patch or it will continue. If it's going to stop, I can deal with that but even my pharmacist doesn't know. Do I deal or call the dr? Has anyone had any experience with HRT patches?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • I'm married 36 years and I want out!!!!!?

I married at 17 and have been with my husband for 36 years. We have four kids and three granddaughters. My husband has been an alcoholic our whole marriage.

I'm so tired of it and fear I'll spend the rest of my life never having a normal relationship, not knowing how it is to not be verbally abused and criticized for everything.

I'm the bread winner...my husband is not able to work due to his problem. He refuses to get help even though my employer offers a rehab program.

I left one time about 6 years ago and he drank so much whiskey, (he's a beer drinker) he about killed himself...he was sick for weeks. How can I have him poisoning himself and live with it

I just want a quiet, peaceful life...to come and go as I please without the worry of what he'll do if I'm not around. He promises to stop then sneaks out while I work and loads up.

Does anyone have a practical solution? My husband is a nice man when he's not drunk..sadly he's drunk 50 % of the time. I'm just so sad about this

  • My son is a veteran of Iraqi war but is not doing well. I see we have some military here..any advice?

My son was in Iraq at the start of the war...he was 20 when he went and had his 21st birthday there and was there for 10 months. He's with the 101st Airborne. They extended his tour but eventually brought him home because his active duty was up.

He started having symptoms of post tramatic stress about a year ago.......deep depression, drinking, self medicating and he's withdrawn. He can't work anymore and has anxiety attacks when there's people around. I moved him in with me and he mostly stays in his room. I did get him to the VA and got him to sign up for his medical benefits. He sees a regular dr. and a phsyciatrist on a monthly basis and they've given him meds for sleep, depression , allergies and headaches. He seems worse then before. He sleeps most of the day and talks very little. I think he needs more care then they have given but don't know who to approach or how to make this happen.

Can anyone point us in the right direction? He's 25 and has no life.

  • Question about Star Wars Revenge of the Sith?

I've been watching Star Wars Sundays on a national channel and last night it was Revenge of the Sith. Did anyone else have trouble making the jump from Anakin Skywalker with the pretty face to Darth Vadar and the voice of James Earl Jones? The minute they put the "Darth" costume on him......he was gone. The only time I had a glimmer of Anakin was when he asked what happened to Padme. I don't know why but the transformation from one to the other just doesn't "fit" right.

  • What's the best vacation you remember?

I love hearing about other's vacations.....so I'm wondering if I could get some of you to share yours with me.

Mine was about five years ago....my husband and I went alone. We drove up to West Virginia (I'd never been) and he found me a roadside waterfall to stand under (never done that either) and it was so much fun....we spent the afternoon. Then we got on to the Blue Ridge Parkway and drove it all the way back to Tennessee. It took us about four days because we made alot of stops to hike and swim and explore. We stopped at museums, parks, lakes and hystorical areas. We found some wonderful places to eat....not big franchise type restaurants but small family owned ones where people actually cooked.

    Anyone else care to share?

  • How long does it take to fully recover from a total abdominal hysterectomy?

I had this operation done on March 27th. I'm on short-term disability (till May 5th) and when I see my dr. Thursday she will see if I can go back to work....I'm hoping for the 6th.

Anyway....I'm trying to regain some stamina so I went on a 2 mile hike yesterday...which seemed ok but in order to get to the trail, we had to go uphill which hurt my legs more than my abdominal muscles.

Today I'm feeling some twinges, not really painful but still there. My dr. was kind of nonspecific about timetables and really only gave me specific instructions for the first week (lifting, driving, etc.).

Anyone have this done? Just curious more then anything to see what others went through and how long it took to feel "normal" again.

  • How do I find low- cost vet care for my dog?

Our last vet bill was $300.00!!!!! I waited for so long to add a pet to the family because I know vet costs are so high and I'm on a fixed income....but I don't think people who are poor should not be able to own a pet just because vet bills are so difficult to fit into the budget. If I can provide a loving home and would prevent the death of an animal, surely I can find some affordable vet care in my area!!!!

  • how do you charge an ipod shuffle without the battery light blinking? the book says it shouldn't be blinking.

In the instruction book it says the amber light should not be blinking when ipod is charging but mine does most of the time. Can't seem to figure out how to make it stop. I'm afraid it's not getting the proper charge because I can only use it a few hours.
