  • Compatibility with oscar and pleco in 125g?

I'm getting a 125g within the next week or two. After it's cycled, I'm adding a Hypostomus sp. (L139) Pleco (already have it) and an Oscar. The pleco will only get about a foot and is smaller than commons.

What else could I add? I asked a similar answer before and like Jack Dempseys, but also heard horror stories of them fighting with Oscars. Synos are also nice, but I'm not sure of their compatibility with my pleco.

I was also thinking of 4-Lined Pictus. Basically I like catfish, especially sharkey-looking ones.

    ----------

    To summarize:

    I have the pleco.

    I'm definitely getting the oscar.

I need something that will get along with both. (I'll have plenty of hiding places.)

  • DIY ideas for a beat up 29g tank?

A friend of mine has a leaking 29 gallon tank. He's going to be replacing it soon and I asked if I could have the old one for one of my do-it-yourself projects. At first I was thinking of just sealing it back up with silicone and using it myself (he wouldn't listen to me when I gave him this advice), but what else could I do with it?

    So far I've thought up...

--Fix it and use it for a fish/starter turtle tank.

--Leave it and use it for reptiles/small mammals.

--Fix it and make it into a filter for my future 125g tank.

  • 125g stocking suggestions?

I'm going to be getting a 125g tank around Christmas time and would like some suggestions on what to put in it. I'd rather a couple large fish rather than a million small ones. (In other words, oscars over mollies.) I'm very fond of catfish, so I'd like at least one of their species in there.

Fish I've considered (not all in the same tank, just in general):

    --Oscars

    --4-lined Pictus

    --Flat Bullheads

    --Featherfin Synos

    Any other fish are appreciated!

  • Need help finding name of book. Alien bears? Human pets?

I read it quite a few years back, so I can't give too many details. The two main characters were an alien bear (I think a prince) and a human pet. Years back, the humans had gone with the alien bears and somehow became pets along the way.

This was in the Adult > Fiction section, so it wasn't a kids book. Can't give much else. Thanks in advance!
