  • Ideal gas equation question?

I am slightly unsure about converting each measurement, the question is:

Calculate the temperature of a gas if 0.5 moles occupy 1.2dm^3 at a pressure of 200kPa.

    Thank you!

  • How to stop henna hair dye washing out so easily?

Last week I dyed my hair with 100% natural henna powder. I mixed it up into a paste with hot water and lemon juice and left in for 6-7 hours. My hair is naturally dark brown (almost black) and it turned a beautiful red/plummy colour and I'm really happy with it.

I don't wash my hair too often (twice a week) however, when I wash it loads of colour comes out :( I thought henna was supposed to be permanent. I've used it before and the colour faded within a month, considering my hair is very dark anyway.

How can I make the colour last longer and not wash out so easily?

  • Why does my boyfriend gets invited to events by a girl but I never do?

My boyfriend has a close friend who's a girl. She always invites him to her birthday party and the park (with their group of friends) etc. This girl has her own boyfriend and doesn't have feelings for mine. But I'm just never invited to anything! This girl and I are in the same class so she knows me well.

She had a party yesterday where she invited most of our year group...so why does she never invite her good friend's girlfriend

  • Does putting a little lube in the condom make it more comfortable for the guy?

I've heard that if you put a couple of drops of lube in the condom the guy gets more pleasure from the sex. Has anyone ever tried this? And also, would it make the condom more likely to slip off?

  • Enthalpy changes..please help?

When 12g each of carbon, hydrogen and ethyl ethanoate (molar mass 88gmol-1) are each burned completely in oxygen, the quantities of heat given out are respectively 394.2kj, 1715.5 kj and 306 kj. Calculate the standard enthalpy of combustion of these three substances.

    Thank you for any help!

  • what is the difference between molar enthalpy, bond dissociation enthalpy and..?

Hess' law? I have a worksheet titled "calculating molar enthalpy changes" and the first question is 'what is the equation for the enthalpy of formation of methane?' ...but it gives me no data, what do I do?

    2 AnswersChemistry8 years ago
  • The enthalpy of formation of methane?

Using the following bond dissociation enthalpies:

    C-H = +413 kjmol

    C(graphite) = +713 kjmol

    H-H = +435 kjmol

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I tried to work it out but I think the answer I got is wrong. I got +782 jkmol but that doesn't seem right..

  • Hess' Law chemistry help please?

Hi there, if be so grateful if you could help me with this question..

    Given the following data:

    4NH3(g) + 3O2(g) >>> 2N2(g) + 6H2O(l) = /\H -1530 kJmol

    H2(g) + 1/2O2(g) >>> H2O(g) = /\H -288 kJmol

Calculate the enthalpy formation of ammonia.

    thank you so much!

  • Chemistry heat of formation question, Hess' Law?

I understand Hess' Law, I just don't understand which way the arrows go when forming the cyclic diagrams. Are the arrows in formation reactions always up and combustions always down? It just confuses me...

There's this question I'm stuck on,

    1. Given the following data:

    /\Hf(CH4) = -74.8 kJmol

    /\Hf(CH3Cl) = -134.5 kJmol

    /\Hf(HCl) = -92.3 kJmol

    Calculate /\H for the reaction: CH4(g) + Cl2(g) >>> CH3C(g)l + HCl(g)

Thank you so much for any help, I really appreciate it!

  • Maths probability question help please?

A shop owner wraps a £5 prize inside every 20th chocolate bar. She then mixes the bars up and sells them at random. If you buy 10 bars, what is the probability of winning at least one prize?

  • A little help on a probability question..?

Fred and his daughter, Delia, support their town's rugby team. The probability that Fred watches a game is 0.8. The probability that Delia watches a game is 0.9 when her father watches the game, and is 0.4 when her father does not watch the game.

    Calculate the probability that:

    1. Both Fred and Delia watch a particular game

    2. Neither Fred or Delia watch a particular game

Any help is much appreciated, thank you!
