  • Downward firing subwoofer on desk?

I just got a new pair of speakers and switched rooms in the house. My mom wants me to put the subwoofer on the desk, seeing how it'll "save room."

The subwoofer is a down firing (meaning the speaker itself is facing downward) on a hardwood desk. Do you think this placement is still fine rather than being on the floor (which I told my mom where it was supposed to be)? Oh, and also the 2 speakers are right next to it, if that matters.

Will bass response still be achieved well if I put it on the desk?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Choice on Beginner Guitars?

Alright, so for Christmas, I'd like to ask for a guitar. Note that this is my first guitar and I don't have much experience with one, other than playing a friends.

I'd spend more money on a beginner guitar because I'd want it to last longer, but my parents probably wouldn't buy an "expensive" one right away for me. So the max price I've set up is $200 (more or less).

I've decided on a few models:

    -Fender CD60

    http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-...

    -Yamaha FG700s

    http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Yamaha-...

    -Epiphone AJ200S

    http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphon...

    -Epiphone DR200S

    http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphon...

It seems I've chosen too many guitars; I chose them based on reviews, price and as well as specs. I'm not sure about the brands; Epiphone vs Fender vs Yamaha. I know that Epiphone and Fender actually specialize in making guitars, and have been for awhile. But I also know that Yamaha makes other things, rather than only guitars. But from what I've read, the Yamaha guitar is a pretty good guitar.

So basically, can you help choose which guitar I should get? I want basically the best in this price range.

And, some guitars suggested here have a solid top while some others are laminated. Should I just get the solid top seeing how those "age" and sound better?

The AJ200S by Epiphone has a jumbo body, which means it's bigger, right? I've read it produces more sound without having to strum harder. Is that a better deal considering it's the same price as the others, or not recommended since I'm a beginner?

    Thank you so much!

  • iPod Classic 120GB weird artist sorting problem?

    Hello,

So just today, I added some songs on to my ipod classic 120GB.

I added some artists with "the____" in the name.

Usually when my iPod does this, it follows by the second part of the artist, ignoring the "the."

For example, "the Misfits" would be under M rather than T.

But just recently, it's been just sorting these artists with the "the" in the artist name under T. I know it really isn't that big of a problem, but I'm not really used to it. Is there any way I can change it back? I'm pretty sure I didn't change any settings in iTunes or the iPod.

Sorry if I made things really confusing too.

  • How Is Average ipod battery life measured?

okay. I know the ipod battery has numerous charges before you have to get it recharged.

I have the ipod classic 120Gb. On the Website telling the technical information of the ipod classic, It says the battery life is 36 hours for Audio, and 6 hours for Video.

I know it's 36 hours, but how do they measure it up?

Like what do they base it on?

Is it 36 hours with :

    -the back light on?

    - or the volume all the way down?

    So many factors.

I know EQ and using the backlight uses battery. Does the ipod battery life just base it off of no back light, and playing audio at the minimum volume level with no EQ ?
