can any1 list ALL the common cliches?

i would like to know any cliches you know. this is for my self and anyone else who needs a way to avoid the "beaten path" of ideas/storylines/themes.

im writing a novel and i need an example/advice on this.

I wanted to know how people manage to make their book covers so real. It looks like a real cover: flashy, complex, eye-appealing.

it's about a boy whose 16 years old and finds a dragon egg in the valley. There's elves, dwarves, and other creature i have yet to add. So far my protag is in a local tavern listening for news of the outside world. the human nation/kingdoms are divided by magic, technology, and fear of magic. one of the character sees the villian (searching for a way to free his Master from being a living statue and protag has the key) i have planned destroy a city/village and runs but nearly get killed by the kings royal guard (the Garde), ruthless soldier like their king. The storyteller is frightened the Garde or villian may find him in the protag's village.

how should i proceed? i really need to start adding action scenes in my story.

A. the Garde ransack the village

B. the villian visits the village

C. both

D. other (please help with tip/suggestion)
