  • Please Proofread my application Essay?

    Cinnamon

This past summer, I was terrified. I was living away from home for the first time, working at summer camp in the Sequoia National Forest. It was a clear late summer night., and I was alone in camp. Then a bang rang out, echoing into camp and the dense forest beyond. I heard more banging, metal on metal. Interspersed was a loud grunting. I slowly crept out of my cabin, heavy duty flashlight in hand. I caught a glimpse of the monster between the trees. It was a enormous hulking mass of red-brown fur. Her name was Cinnamon.

Cinnamon was a black bear, native to the area. She was a mother of two small cubs, who enjoyed breaking into locked steel dumpster, shattering windows, and causing fear among our campers as well as the staff. Cinnamon was the culprit in the ice-cream social theft, as well as the bacon raids.

If I wanted to sleep, I had to take action. Several minutes of Cinnamon and her cubs Toast and Sugar banging the dumpster had gone by while I gathered my courage. I stepped out of my cabin, my heart racing. The flashlight and pepper spray in my hands had never seemed so small. As I walked towards the noise, my flashlight illuminated the face of a hungry mother bear. For a moment, I locked eyes with Cinnamon and froze. Then she turned away from me contemptuously and resumed trying to break ½ inch thick steel. I clapped my hands and shouted wordlessly. Cinnamon and her cubs turned away and ambled into the forest. I never saw another bear for the rest of the summer.

Although it wasn't academically challenging, this job was the most personally challenging thing for me thus far. I had many new experiences and learned a lot about myself. I was anxious with all the new people. In the last few years, I was not ready to make changes in my life. During this period, I forced myself to refine my goals and think about how best to get myself to where I want to be. I have to admit, I did not focus on what was necessary. Instead I got caught up in less important things, such as student government and other fun activities. Since then, I have grown up. I stopped playing around and became serious about my life. I have become much better at studying and time management. I learned how to manage myself, including my time and relationships. I have learned how to deal with demanding and difficult people. This have given me the confidence I needed. I now know that before now, I was not ready to succeed academically. This is why I know I am ready to face a brand new level of academic challenge.

  • Getting a lost laptop back?

I left it in the car of a woman I've seen around school, mostly a stranger, who gave me a ride to my car in the pouring rain. I don't know her name, can only describe her and her car vaguely, and have a one-week deadline. Any suggestions? I can only offer a $20 max reward.

  • What kind of Knee Injury do I have?

My knee seized up in pain yesterday. I could not move it at all after an awkward shift of my weight when I was on my knees. I eventually was able to straighten it out, and the pain dissappeared. It's a bit sore, but nothing like it was yesterday. It it possible to dislocate the back of the knee? That's where the pain was.
