Should We Completely Overhaul Welfare?
Try this on for size:
For the poor and the homeless:
After establishing eligibility through a comprehensive needs assessment, send them to government subsidied trade schools. They may continue to receive Welfare while in school.
Have a pool of employers who are willing to hire these individuals when they complete training. Welfare payments will cease upon their employment.
At the end of an appropriate probationary period, say a year, their wages will be garnished by a certain percentage to repay the government for what was spent since they entered the school,to include assistance checks.
Come to think of it, this might eliminate Unemplyment Insurance, too...
5 AnswersGovernment8 years agoAre These Goods Points for a Political Platform?
I believe that government should have as little interference in my life as possible.
I believe that the Citizens need to be reminded that they are the government, and ultimately responsible for what they get. I think the vote is not only a responsibility, but should be mandatory.
I believe Congress needs to be reminded that I am a Citizen, not a subject; and that they work for me rather than vice versa. The best way to do this is to place term limits on Representatives, Senators, and members of the Supreme Court.
Further, it should be mandated that all elected or appointed officials, specifically the Congress, would adhere to the same rules, laws, and regulations as any other federal employee. This includes pay and benefits packages. No individual would recieve a pension past their term in office unless they were entered into the same pension plan as any other federal employee.
I believe government is too big. We should eliminate unnecessary federal departments, e.g., Labor, Education, etc. and a restriction on creating new departments or subordinate agency without approval of the fifths of the Congress.
I believe the government has no authority to force me to make a purchase of anything without reimbursing me. Nor does it have the authority to alter the terms of a contract into which I’ve knowingly entered, and with which I am satisfied.
I believe the IRS is the most dangerous government agency, and it needs to be abolished by putting a Fair Tax in place.
I believe the 17th amendment should be repealed, and representation of the sovereign States in the Congress be returned to them.
I believe in equality, but neither should an individual be given preferential treatment based on race, gender, etc.
I believe the marriage is between two consenting adults, gender immaterial.
I believe in unrestricted gun ownership with the proviso that physicians and mental health professionals have a duty to warn law enforcement of homicidal/suicidal statements.
I believe our Citizenship is to be valued and cherished. I would support the complete and total deportation of all illegals in the country and their and their offspring's subsequent banishment from the country in perpetuity.
I see no reason to subsidize the oil industry, already with obscene profits, with taxpayer dollars. Nor do I see any reason for my tax dollars to go to farmers when they don't grow anything.
I want an end to foreign aid to countries demonstrably hostile to the US and our interests.
I could keep going, but I wonder what the point would be. No one cares anymore, anyway.
1 AnswerGovernment8 years agoWhat you call these ideas?
The government is too big, and has too much power. What side of the political fence would these ideas fall under?
Legalize gay marriage.
Legalize marijuana.
Support capital punishment.
Do not fund any organization that performs abortions with taxpayer dollars.
Abolish the IRS and institute a Fair Tax.
Eliminate all foreign aid to countries demonstrably hostile to the US or her interests.
Eliminate federal subsidies for any corporation, e.g., oil, farms, etc.
Reform Welfare so that recipients must pay back the government upon employment.
Scale back the number of federal departments, i.e., abolish Departments of Education, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Health and Human Services, Labor, Commerce, and Agriculture. Redistribute subordinate agencies to other departments, or eliminate them completely. No new department, or subordinate agency, may be raised without the consent of the fifths of the congress.
Ensure that no federal executive department may enact regulation that shall have the same effect upon Citizens and legal residents as law without legislation.
Place term limits on both the House and the Senate, as well as on members of the Supreme Court.
Identify, locate, apprehend, and deport all illegals in the country. Ban them permanently.
Eliminate corporate bailouts and federal spending in the civilian sector.
Lift all sanctions on drilling in the continental US, stop delaying permits for new refineries.
Have universal background checks, but neither the state nor federal governments will enact law making the gun purchasing or possessing process so onerous as to be prohibitive for those fully qualified.
Abolish all state and federal employee unions.
Make a two year tour of military service mandatory upon reaching the age of 18.
Revoke ObamaCare.
Understand that freedom of religion does not mean freedom from religion. Understand that government does not grant rights, but protects those rights the sovereign Citizen is given by their creator. I don’t care what you believe, Jew, Muslim, Christian, but your god gave you your rights. Any other mode of thought is to accept that your rights are mutable and subject to the whim of your government.
Declare that we must never sacrifice even the smallest number of our liberties in exchange for safety.
4 AnswersGovernment8 years agoI Want to Start a New Political Party, How Do I Go About It?
Points on my platform would include:
Legalization of Gay Marriage
Unrestricted gun ownership with the proviso that physicians and mental health professionals have a duty to warn law enforcement of homicidal/suicidal statements.
Complete and total deportation of all illegals in the country and their and their offspring's subsequent banishment from the country in perpetuity.
An end to oil and farm subsidies.
An end to foreign aid to countries demonstrably hostile to the US and our interests.
Elimination of unnecessary federal departments, e.g., Labor, Education, etc. and a restriction on new departments without approval of the fifths of the Congress.
Term limits on Representatives, Senators, and members of the Supreme Court.
Legalization of marijuana.
An end to Affirmative Action and any other program that provides quotas for "diversity" over qualifications of the applicant.
A mandate that all elected or appointed officials, specifically the Congress, would adhere to the same rules, laws, and regulations as any other federal employee. This includes pay and benefits packages. No individual would recieve a pension past their term in office unless they were entered into the same pension plan as any other federal employee.
Oh, my! I'm sounding a bit like a libertarian, aren't I?
3 AnswersCivic Participation8 years agoWhy will people not let the George Zimmerman trial die?
Even though I'm contributing to it myself with this question, I really have to wonder.
I see so much vitriol and hatred towards Mr. Zimmerman, so much misinformation, or disinformation being put out.
The trial is over, George Zimmerman, by a preponderance of the evidence, was found not guilty.
Why not simply let this thing die?
13 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police8 years agoShould Civil Rights Charges Be Brought Against Roderick Scott?
A virtually identical case to that of George Zimmerman, of a black man who shot a white teenager in New York.
1 AnswerLaw Enforcement & Police8 years agoWhy do people constantly say that illegal immigration is not a crime?
I find it amazing that some people don't understand that illegal aliens are, in fact as well as under the law, criminals. It's not a civil crime, it's not a misdemeanor, it's a federal offense.
7 AnswersImmigration8 years agoHow are Edward Snowden and Bradley Manning different?
They both revealed classified information.
Are they the same? How are they different? Do their motives make a difference in what they did?
5 AnswersGovernment8 years agoIs America still a center right country?
Or have we devolved to an entitlement minded, jaded, and apathetic nation?
2 AnswersPolitics8 years agoShould the United States leave the United Nations?
Why should the United States surrender any portion of it's sovereignty?
Why should we trust an organization that espouses human rights, but appoints nations like Saudi Arabia and China?
3 AnswersInternational Organizations8 years agoWhy do illegal aliens hate being called what they are?
I find it amazing that an illegal has the gall to chastise Congress for referring to him as what he is.
You're in the country, you're not authorized to be in the country.
You're an illegal. Get over it.
