    -Discuss the author’s biographical information

-Discuss the work’s literary value and impact on history

What large literary work would have an ample amount of information for research?

  • Where can I find information about the works of Geoffrey Chaucer?

Such as Canterbury Tales and other well-known works? I've tried google, other search engines, my community college's online database and I have found nothing. The only thing that contains information regarding Canterbury Tales (for example) that doesn't regurgitate the actual text itself is Wikipedia and it is an automatic 0 if we cite wikipedia as a source. I even tried to access the sources at the bottom of the Canterbury Tales Wikipedia page (link provided below) but for some reason I am unable to access those.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Canterbury_Tales#...

    My assignment is to

-Find Information about author’s other works

-Explain other major works by the author

-Explain what impact these works had at the time as well as what impact they have on modern reading and/or what other authors have been influenced by the works

It is not an analysis of any sort.

Thank you for your time and patience if you decide to help!

  • Senioritis, depression, going to college in the fall.?

This fall I will be going to University of Texas at Austin for college. I am faced with a problem. I got into an argument with my parents about my grades in high school, grades in college and such. I am a top 10% student who makes mostly As and some Bs and recently, my grades have been dropping into the low B and mid C range (except for AP Calculus AB which is always a high A), due to senioritis. Also because of this, I am becoming depressed because I feel like a failure, and I feel that when i walk the graduation stage I will experience a psychological rejuvenation like no other. Is it normal to experience depression during the last semester of high school?

I got into an argument with my parents and I made the case that high school is full of bull sh*t and they said college is much harder. I told them that college won't give me any classes that I hate since I will be bringing at least 35 credit hours in, which will satisfy at least 85% of my basic courses, which includes all of my history, english, and other social studies credits, all of which i hate with a burning passion, therefore all the courses i will have in college will be math or science related since I will be going into engineering and math and science courses. For me, the subjects that I like are the only ones that I will be taking. Is college truly easier if I won't have any courses containing subject matter that I hate?

Also, I believe that college wont usurp time away from my personal life because as I had planned to practice piano about 2-3 hours a day, I have never been able to practice during the week during my junior and senior years of high school because homework in the subjects such as english and history have always taken me forever to complete because I care(d) about my grades, which is why I'm in the top 10%. Will it be possible that in college, if I don't have to deal with classes that I hate that I will have more time for myself so that I can practice piano for the few hours a day like I want to?

  • Will I get into UT Austin's Cockrell Engineering School?

I'm currently a senior in high school. I've already been admitted to UT, but not into the engineering school yet. I plan on majoring in mechanical engineering. What are my chances of getting in with these statistics?

    Ranked 51/556

    SAT 1870: 530 CR, 720 Math, 620 Writing.

    ACT 26: 25 English, 32 Math, 24 Reading, 23 Science

Have taken and passed 5 AP tests

    AP Scholar with Distinction title.

Will have 100 community service hours by the time I graduate.

I've taken 4 years of Spanish, and I got a 4 on the AP Spanish Language test (included in the 5 AP tests mentioned above)

In National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Model UN.

For extracurricular activities, I've been playing piano for 9 years.

    Resident of Texas

  • Could my class rank move up during my senior year?

Currently I'm ranked 49 out of 542 (91st percentile). I'm expecting a lot of people to drop out, yet at the same time I'm expecting a very large number of people to slack off during senior year, including people ranked higher than I am. I plan on working very hard this year to make sure that my grades are kept high. Could my rank move up or would it stay put? I'm taking 3 AP Classes this year (Calculus AB, Biology, and Economics) Has anyone had similar experiences?

  • Am I likely to get into UT Austin?

I have an SAT Score of 1870 (530 CR, 720 Math, 620 Writing)

Class rank of 49 out of 542 (just above the 9% line)

Have several extracurricular activities including Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, and Model United Nations, and I also play classical piano competitively, and also play for my church.

I've taken and passed 5 AP tests.

I will also be providing 2 letters of recommendation by high school teachers when I apply

I want to major in Mechanical Engineering, so I also need to get accepted into the Engineering school which is highly competitive as well.

How likely would it be to get in such a competitive school? I plan on sending my application within the next 2 weeks.

  • Attending circus protest next week, help with sign?

I know this isn't the most appropriate section, but it involves vegan philosophy.

For the sign I am making next week in Dallas to protest Ringling Bros. Circus, infamous for their cruelty towards their animals, i am trying to make a sign that is LEAST controversial, yet the MOST persuasive. I plan on putting a picture on it with a corresponding statement. What can I say or put on it that will stir up the least amount of trouble? I want to protest peacefully without offending anyone.

  • POLL: Should death penalty be used much more often than it is now?

I personally think yes because there are thousands of people who have raped, murdered, kidnapped many people, they are serving life sentences, and it costs American taxpayers $18 thousand dollars per year per inmate. A person who has committed such horrific crimes does not deserve to be staying alive sucking our money away. The money saved could go towards education, infrastructure, etc.

  • Question about concerto sheet music?

Today I just bought the sheet music for Rachmaninoff's 3rd Piano Concerto and Mozart's 20th piano concerto, and I know how to read concerto music, but I am wondering why much of the print is so small and hard to read, especially in the cadenza of Rach 3

  • How to destroy monsanto?

I know this may not be in the correct category, but I posted this question here because I thought I would get good feedback considering many vegetarians and vegans alike are aware of this issue. Monsanto tries to introduce their GMO's in other countries, which causes small farmers to have to buy chemicals, and buy new seeds to accomodate for the infertility genetically engineered by monsanto. They also sue small farmers because the pollen from their GMO's accidentally breeded with the small GMO's and they have a patent agreement. They are an evil corporation and must be stopped. Is it possible to destroy their buildings by burning them? Or is there another way? How may I be able to destroy them by the time i'm dead?

  • Is it difficult to be vegan in Costa Rica?

I know that Costa Rica is pro-environment, but because they're a hispanic country, chances are they eat lots of meat, but since I'm vegan and I want to study/work abroad in Costa Rica, how hard would it be to live in Costa Rica as a vegan? Also, is Colombia vegan friendly by any chance?
