we used to go to the Sergeant's Pump on Merivale - but it has closed down

i am looking for a new place to go - some place with a pool table & juke box - like the pump had......

anyone know of a good place in Ottawa????

when i was a kid - i swear i remember seeing a cartoon on tv about Halloween safety

things like 'don't criss cross the street - go up one side then the other'

or "wear make up instead of a mask..."

it said "hey kids - it's Peter Pumpkin" & he rode on a broomstick

no one i know can remember this cartoon -

i have googled it..... tried YouTube..... even emailed the local tv station

please tell me i didn't imagine it

it was called 'Back to Nature' - it was like a massage salon on the Byward Market / Dalhousie area ... upstairs from a tea shop

has anyone else ever experience this weird sensation?

when i use a treadmill - after i step off i feel as though my body is still moving forward even though i am standing still

it almost makes me feel sort of motion sick - i have to actually keep walking slowly around the room for a few minutes until the feeling passes

did anyone else ever wonder growing up .... WHAT did they have in their picnic baskets?

okay - i keep my kitchen & house very clean

i don't leave open food out & i don't have any animals so there is no pet food or water dish

the kitchen will be fine until i buy fresh fruit - like right now it's peach season here - i buy a basket - wash them right away when i get them home but sudden i have a zillion fruit flies buzzing around my kitchen

this happens with bananas too -

SO - please don't tell me the flies are IN the fruit - that they are from eggs laid in the fruit & they hatch & come out - SICK oh barf - i 'll never eat another peach again :(

given some recent cases of violent crime in resort areas (murders) -

does anyone have any experiences there they would share?

what is the resort like? clean - nice - safe?

(we have a young child >5)

good experiences or bad experiences?

suggestions?
