So I got tickets to a concert that I've been looking forward to for a while now, but my friend has scheduled her birthday party on the same day. She is mad that I wont be able to come, saying that I should cancel on my other friend and on a concert of my favorite bands to go to a birthday party of three other girls, one of which I hate. I am most likely going to the concert, I just don't like her not being open to the explanation I gave her. What should I do in this situation???

I am 16, a girl.

I dont really know what to do, I had such high hopes for myself, now I'm in high school and a failure. I wanted to attend Brown or Georgetown but its a long shot that they will accept with my SATs and grades and all. I'm so stressed out because of AP tests and SATs and everything, and I wont get to enjoy my summer because I volunteer 6 days a week for 9-10 hours per day. Then I have senior year with 6 more AP classes. Life isn't fun for me anymore, and it would just be easier to die.

I will NOT talk to parents about this, they are foriegn, and for some reason believe that having a mental illness or being suicidal makes you weak.

I dont trust my friends. There isnt anyone for me to talk to.

Both of my parents are from egypt. We are coptic, which means we have been there for the past 300 years. I have no roots in Europe, nor do I have any roots in Africa besides Egypt. Can I put african-american?

I do not identify myself as either white or black. I do not want to check 'other' or 'wish not to disclose information' because I feel like lots of asains who do not want to be recognized as such do that.

Personally, I believe that affirmative action is made to level the playing field for applicants, and since I get pulled over more often than white people and get my bags checked and get searched at airports, I should be allowed to be considered a minority.

Georgetown is my dream school, the size, the location, etc. are exactly what I have been looking for.

Grades: 3.6 unweighted (low for Georgetown, but would've been a 3.8 if not for a horrible sophomore year, which I hope to explain in my essay).

Classes taken: 8 AP classes in the humanities (english and history, one math), with all 5s so far. Hoping to major in pre-law and political science with a minor in journalism.

SAT: 2300, with a good chance of scoring a 2350 on my next one.

SAT II: US History: 750, Both Language and Lit: 750 Possibly taking World History, my school only offers AP euro which I am taking this year, but I will be buying a book for world history and studying it as prep for the SAT II.

Self-Study of AP Human Geography, 5 on the test

African-American

ECs: 600 community service hours

Church choir, a capella choir in school, founder of clubs, member in many academic clubs, VP of one, founder of organization for disabled kids, in a teen advocacy group working to teach kids about teen dating violence, freshman mentor, tutor, winner of multiple national essay contests, published poet, etc.

Also considering Boston College, University of Southern California, NYU, Cornell.

I have a 4.0 weighted GPA and a 3.6 unweighted, brought down from a troublesome sophomore year, where i struggled with death and bulimia. I am african-american, and I know Georgetown is interested in increasing the percentage of diverse students. My SAT is 2200, will hopefully by 2300 this time. I have 3 SAT subject tests with scores around 750. I am a published poet, have 550 community service hours, as well as a member of teen advocacy groups outside of school and a leader in the community for disabled kids. Inside of school, I will have completed 7 AP classes with scores of 5's by the end of my senior year and am the VP of Junior State of America, as well as a member of Mock Trial, Model United Nations, a capella choir, and National Honor Society. I am a published poet, and come from one of the top 10 public schools in the nation, so classes are a bit harder than they are everywhere else.

I am a junior, and by the time i will be sending applications in, I will hopefully have a 3.8 cumulative GPA, with 5's on all my AP tests (6 or 7) and an SAT reading score of 750, math score of 670, and a writing score of 740. I have lots of extracurricular, including leadership positions, 500 community service hours, and participation in the arts (choir choir and a capella choir for 4 years). I will have a double major in pre-law and political science, with a minor in creative writing. Where do you think is an appropriate place to apply?

I am very interested in Georgetown University, it is my top school. I have a 3.6 (out of 4.0) and by the end of my senior year I will have taken either 6 or 7 AP classes (1 math, 3 social studies/history, and two English), 5 honors classes, and have about 500 community service hours, as well as leadership roles in academic clubs (Junior State of America, Model UN, Mock Trial, etc.) and leadership roles in advocacy groups against bullying and teen dating violence outside of school. I also play softball and used to play volleyball. I am also the leader of a statewide pageant for disabled girls. My math SAT will hopefully be at 650 and my reading and writing around 720. I will also have taken numerous arts classes (4 years of symphonic and a capella choir as well as graphic arts and painting classes.) My high school is number one in the state, and I have 5's on the AP tests I have taken so far.

Do you think I'll get in?

I have a high tolerance for caffeine, coffee does nothing for me, so I don't know if they will work. But, if they do, which works the best?
