Republicans and democrats, senate and the house, congress and the President all you hear is arguing. I think it is past time for them all to grow up and do the job they were hired to do.

I don't believe we need more taxes but we do need spending cuts and entitlement reform. If and only if after we do that do we discuss raising taxes.

It is going on 2 years since the federal government has had a budget. This is congresses primary job and they are not doing it. It is not just republicans or democrats it is all of them. We pay them and they are not doing the job they were hired to do. If that were you and I on our jobs we would be fired. So how about we fire all of them and start over.

Mine is playing outside until the street lights came on in the summer. Seems like todays kids have a lot less freedom than we did, doesn't it?

For me I would go with a flat tax. Everyone who had income would file their own tax form. Everyone would get one deduction of $35000 which would take care of the working poor. However you could not deduct more than you actually earned. No extra deductions for unemployed children. What this would mean is if you had a couple each earning $25,000 than each could deduct $25,000. It would also mean no such thing as an earned income credit. It would mean people like my husband and myself where my husband earns about $85,000 and I earn about $30000 dollars would each file our own tax return. This would eliminate the marriage penalty and would also allow us to fall out of those hit with the alternative minimum tax. I believe this rate would have to be between 17% and 20%. Tax form is simple first line how much did you make? Second line multiply by 17%? Third line pay this amount. I would also eliminate payroll deductions for taxes as this would make sure that everyone was aware of how much the government is taking out of their pay and tend to make congress much more reluctant to raise that rate.

I feel that there is no one who can really be knowledgeable of any set of laws on one subject if that subject contains that many pages. I also feel that the whole thing should be scrapped and rewritten.

prepare their own tax returns. By preparing their own returns I mean no using a tax lawyer, an accountant, a tax preparation firm, a computer program or anything other than the forms, a pen, and a calculator.

We have over 69000 pages of tax law currently on the books and I seriously doubt that anyone even the professionals know all the rules. It is time for an extreme make-over for those laws. Who agrees with me?

My father and mother were ahead of their time and raised us to not look at people's color but to judge each person as an individual. The result of this upbringing is I have a Black brother-in law, bi-racial nieces and nephews am married to a Mexican/Native American and have bi-racial children. The result of that is both my sister and myself have experienced instances of racism. Not just from white people but also from Blacks and Mexicans. I should add I am in my early 60's so my parents were definitely ahead of the curve.

The last one was here in Texas and he had planted a bomb in one of the skyscrapers in downtown Dallas. He used a phone which he thought would cause the bomb to explode. Fortunately the FBI was already on to him and had the bomb defused and his call went straight to the FBI. He was arrested and is going to court this morning. It turns out he was a Jordanian and he was here illegally. Again are these just individuals or are there more of them that we have not caught and if so how many have we not caught?

As it is right now both systems are broke or nearly broke. We all know that we have been the ones supporting these programs and their constant expansion with our hard earned dollars but now we also know that there are very few dollars left for us.
