How do I get the drive letter to show up for my slave hard drive on my computer? It was there, now gone.?
My 80GB hard drive recently crashed. It got to the point to where it would not boot and I was getting a boot.ini error among others when it tried.
I then slaved the crashed drive off another and it showed up as a drive F but was not accessible. This was fine as the recovery software could recognize it.
The letter was there one day and a week or so later it was gone, no longer showing on “my computer.” It shows up on the device manager under disk drives, but not in disk management as some websites suggested as a fix to assign it a drive letter.
I have also tried to use MBRWork, as I also found online as a fix, but have been unsuccessful getting the application to run.
I have gone back and forth between a USB hard drive case and connected by IDE cable before this happened. The primary hard drive is now setup with the jumper as CS, and the crashed is set as Slave.
Thanks in advance for any help!
