Which of the two lenses perform better in low light? I usually tend to use my camera gear around the house. Maybe i would take it outside on an occasion. So having nice image quality at higher f-stops would be a plus. I will also take many videos which would require me to manually focus, which lens has the better focus ring? Right now I'm leaning towards the Sigma because of the solid build and the HUGE 77mm front element which looks amazing!

P.S: The body I currently have is the Canon Rebel T3i.

I'm looking into getting new gear for low light photography and for shooting videos. Should I go with the cheaper 50mm 1.8 with a Vanguard 263AB-100 with the SBH-100 ball head or should i spend a little more and get the Canon 50mm 1.4?

The Video mode on my T3 (Not the T3i) seems to have a problem: I can't record video for more than 5 seconds. I don't know if it's the memory card or not because it's a Class 10 PNY Professional 8 gig card. It writes and reads at 20 mbs. Thanks for the help!
