Would a antenna booster help get through wireless interference?
I am using a wireless ISP service, it is not through a cellphone company. The company website is http://www.rhinocommunications.net./ Just to clear any questions, I am living in a rural area, so this is the only option I have at the moment, and I also do a lot of gaming, so satellite is out of the question.
My neighbors also use this service, but through some means, they are causing a interference. I should note, these are the only people close enough to cause any type of interference, I have already talked to the manager of this business. However, they maybe using a CB radio or something else that is causing the interference. My neighbors and I do not get along. I have tried to talk to them about this but I have not gotten any answers from them, rather they tend to ignore the question.
So my question is, is there any type of antenna boosters that I could possibly buy that will strengthen the signal, which could bypass the interference? Also if so, what should I look for?
1 AnswerComputer Networking1 decade agoWireless Broadband Connection dropping?
I have wireless broadband for my PC, it is through a local wireless provider. As of lately, around 9:00 PM or so, my connection either seems to drop or it just "stalls". It has gotten so bad, that sometimes I can't even load up a single web page. I do not use a router, although I probably should, all my drivers are up to date, I have screened and scanned like crazy for any type of virus or spyware. I have not found any at all. I do have neighbors who use the wireless company, because we live in a rural area, and they are the only broadband provider.
So my question is, what could possibly be the problem? I have had problems with this ISP for years, but it has never been to the point where I could schedule the problems. I was told by the techs that some one could be possibly be "stealing" the connection, I don't know how smart the techs are, so I can't say if this is true or not, like I said, I have had problem with these people numerous times. However if this is true, is there any software that I can download that lets me monitor what is going on? Any other answers or helpful tips would be useful as well.
