  • How do they draw blood when you donate?

    I donated blood 3 days ago and when I was donating I had on a very tight tourniquet which hurt more than the needle. The tourniquet remained on during the whole time. I asked if it needed to be so tight and it was loosened. After donating I was asked to hold my arm up and apply pressure. When they checked if the blooding was stopped. Blood started running down my arm. Was it right to have the tourniquet on the whole time? I thought the blood would flow better if the tourniquet was removed.
