Photography! Here's some of my work: http://www.redbubble.com/people/scottaloucks

  • Remote desktop with lid closed?

I was wondering if it's possible to connect to a Windows 7 laptop using Splashtop remote desktop app (android), or any remote desktop service, with the laptop lid closed. I set the laptop to do nothing when lid is closed, it stays awake, but I'm unable to connect to it. When I am connected and I close the lid I lose the connection. Just wondering if there's a quick fix. Google turned up nothing.

  • Advanced Photographer's opinions of my photos?

BEFORE you see the pics, hear me out. I'm usually the one to answer these types of questions and normally they are a waste of time so I'll try and make this worth your while. I have avoided asking such a question for a long time but I just can't resist anymore, the temptation of having real outside opinions of my work is too much, haha.

So, I would like the honest opinions of my photos from ADVANCED photographers that know their stuff. I have a collection of my best photos from over the past 3 years. I did not have a dSLR until very recently so 90% of these photos were shot with an advanced point and shoot on manual. I DO NOT (there's a lot of emphasis in this question, I know) alter any of my photos, the only post processing I do is very minor contrast and saturation. So, now that I've made my point clear, have at it! Tell me what you think, are they any good?:

  • Computer suddenly disconnects from home Wi-Fi and can't identify it?

I could probably just Google this but I thought someone might have a quick solution. So we have a 2wire router shared by at least 6 devices (probably too many) and it works fine. The minute a friend comes over or someone else connects to it (it's WPA-PSK secured) my computer is the first to disconnect, everyone else is fine. It's connected to the router but it just keeps saying Identifying... no internet access. It's an easy fix to reset the router and then I can connect again but it eventually happens again and it's only my computer that has the problem. Anyone with easy fix gets 10 points :)

  • How can Washington DC DMV suspend an out of state license after the ticket's been payed?

I am a California resident that received a ticket for an illegal u-turn 12 YEARS AGO. The police officer said wait until you get the ticket in the mail because it may not cross state lines. So we waited and then 7 years ago received the bill for the ticket. We promptly paid the ticket and the late fee on the phone that day. The DMV agent said everything is paid and cleared and there are no other penalties. Last week my license was suspended by the DC DMV when I attempted to renew my license. How can any additional penalties be applied after the fact over 7 years later? I have never received any written notices or phone calls from DC. They just want a $98 fee to restore my license and said they can retro suspend my license because I was late in paying the fine. Any answers appreciated, most helpful gets 10 points.

  • Is DMV required to send you a notice of license suspension?

If someone receives a ticket in another state and is late in paying, is that state required to give you notice of license suspension if they choose to do so? First person with legal proof gets best answer.

  • Does a warranty for a camera still work if it's discontinued?

This might be a stupid question but I just want to make sure, if I bought a camera, say a Fujifilm Finepix S200EXR (which is discontinued) if I bought that camera brand new on the internet, would I still be covered by the manufacturer's warranty even though they don't make it anymore?

  • Do you have to pay full price for a GameStop in-store preorder?

For example, If I wanted to pre-order a yet-released game or console, would I have to pay the full price or just a small portion like I've heard? And don't say call or go to a gamestop to find out, I will soon enough but, hey, 10 points anyone?

My friend has BF 2 for PC and we load it on 2 computers and play because you only need the disc to start then you can take it out. Well when he leaves i'm stuck looking at the icon and not able to play it. I know there are ways to play it without the disc I just haven't found a legit looking site. It's not a big deal but the person who gives me a working one will get 10 points!

  • Does this movie trailer look cool?

Me and my friend are making a movie with absolutely zero money with demo and free computer software and we wanted to know if these videos look promising. • Windows media player help?

Usually I'm the one answering these questions but I can't figure it out. Whenever I try to play ANYTHING in media player 12 (windows 7) it just freezes and stops working, it worked fine a few days ago but I've done too much to do a restore, I've gone to turn windows features on and off and turned it off, restarted, then deleted the program file that was left and turned it back on, I did that twice and still not working, it will open but as soon as it tries to open any media, it freezes. Am I supposed to restore to the date when I know it was working? or does it check it and fix it during any restore? Because this has happened before then after a while it just reset itself, but this has been way too long. please help, thanks.

  • Can I get rid of the clicks and pops on my computer's sound?

I have a near brand new hp touchsmart tm2 with windows 7, the sound system which includes the speakers and headphones makes clicks and pops while playing audio, especially the headphones and I have tried several. The program that operates the sound is IDT and I went to their website and read that what causes the pops and clicks are basically power surges. It had a list of preventatives but it all didn't make any sense, I'm pretty sure it said a program can help. Some of the settings in the IDT menu like power options say that while this feature is on you may hear pops and clicks but when i turn it off nothing changes, I have tried every combination of settings. I am not computer illiterate, I do not blare my music, and I have tried reinstalling my drivers. Is there a program (preferably free) that will reduce these annoyances? Help appreciated!

  • My speakers and my headphones on my computer make popping noise?

Hi, I have an hp TouchSmart tm2. Whenever I play any sound, headphones especially, it makes really annoying popping and clicking sounds. I'm not computer illiterate, I've messed with the hp IDT sound system that controls all audio settings and i found the battery saver setting said that while on it may make clicks and pops, I turned that off and it doesn't help. It does this on battery and while plugged in. I've looked on hp.com on troubleshooting and found nothing, I'm thinking about installing the original drivers but it's done this as long as I can remember, the computer is only a few months old. I'm too busy to explore this further or go to tech support I just wanted to get someone's opinion, help is appreciated.
