Need assistance in identifying bird/owl song in Austin, TX?
Frequently during mornings and evenings (evenings in particular) in Austin, Texas, there is a highly characteristic bird or owl song that can be heard. It lasts about 6 seconds per song, and is repeated often. The same bird or owl also makes a shortened version of the song that lasts about 1.5 seconds. Since I haven't found any media relating to it, I'll have to iterate it in words.
Hopefully this is detailed enough in "word" form, but starting with the six second song, it sounds something like this:
woowoo wooOOOOOO wooOOO OOO wooOOO OOO
> On the 'woowoo' pitch is consistent. (Musically this would probably like two eighth note B3's)
> On the 'wooOOOOOO', and both 'OOO's, the pitch descends slightly. (Musically this would probably be like a quarter note B3 followed by an eighth note B3-flat)
> On the 'wooOOO' the pitch ascends. (Musically this would be like a quarter note G3 followed by an eighth note B3-flat)
I'd like to know what kind of bird or owl is making these kinds of calls, and perhaps what the call means. Thanks in advance!
1 AnswerBirds7 years agoDo people in different hemispheres call seasons the opposite names or do the seasons have differing meanings?
Due to the tilt of the Earth, the northern and southern hemisphere experience opposing seasons at pretty much all times of the year.
However, do people in the different hemispheres refer to the opposing, "right" terms, or do they just use the same words, just with different meanings?
For example, say it is summer in the United States. Would people in Australia refer to the current season in Australia as "winter," the "correct" meaning, or would they still say "summer," but the term would have a different meaning?
2 AnswersLanguages8 years agoWhy do people tend to act fidgety when they feel the need to urinate?
We've probably all seen it before. If a person has to wait to urinate, they tend to act fidgety, normally in the form of dancing or jumping around. Why is that?

How to you solve for variables in an equation that has all variables? For example, see the following problem:
HOP + ON + THE + BUS = GUS (Each letter represents a different digit from 0-9, and no two letters stand for the same digit.
What method should you use to figure out what each letter represents?
1 AnswerMathematics8 years agoWhat does a block of Vitamin C look like?
Vitamin C - we see it on nutrition facts tables all the time, especially in fruit-related products. It's an important vitamin for daily health.
What I would like to know is, what would one, sizeable cube of Vitamin C look like? Imagine a cubic meter of just pure vitamin c molecules. Would it be a nice solid mass? Liquid? Gas? Would it have some unique color? Smell?
1 AnswerChemistry8 years agoInternet browsers not working in latest Windows 8 update?
Since a Windows 8 update occurred a few days ago, my internet browsers have not been working effectively. Clearing cache and/or history does not resolve the problem.
1) Google Chrome does not load any pages at all, except (chrome://) pages. Going to any website will give you a "Error 7 (net::ERR_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out." error message. Chrome does not work in Windows 8 mode or desktop mode, or incognito mode, either.
2) Internet Explorer 10 also does not load any pages at all, and instead gives me an eternally spinning loading circle.
3) Firefox is the best working browser at the moment, but it also is experiencing problems. Pages are not loading completely - for example, not loading any flash objects and thus giving you a very basic looking HTML appearance. (Likely unrelated side effect - browser freezes completely when trying to install Flash plugin update)
If there is a way this can be fix, that would be great.
3 AnswersSoftware8 years agoNeed assistance in finding a formula for this data table?
I am working to find the formula for this data table. I have had trouble finding a formula that will match the following set: (in which the first number represents "x" and the second number is "y")
0:128
1:96
2:72
3:54
4:40.5
I understand that the "y" column decreases by 3/4s each stage, but I need a formula that translates x to y.

Are Terms of Services, rules which one must abide to use a service, redistributable? I was wondering if I could copy and paste a terms of service elsewhere, like a Wikia, but I'm not necessarily sure if they are redistributable, because they rarely contain any copyright license. In case you are wondering, I am using the Tap4Fun's terms of service on the game, Island Empire, but I would like to know if this is legal or not. The TOS does not have any copyright licensing.
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics9 years agoWhat do things like 'a,' 'G,' and 'm' in science called?
In science, appearing especially in scientific formulas, there are letters representing an unknown quantity. For example, in F=ma, F is force, m is mass, and a is acceleration. They aren't called scientific variables because those are the variables in a lab or experiment.
Other examples include G (gravity) times the quantity of m1 (mass 1) times m2 (mass 2) over r2 (radius squared).

3 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoHas there been an "extremely violent waterspout"?
Waterspouts have been commonly known as relatively weak (but not entirely weak) tornadoes that go over water. But has there ever been an 'extremely violent' waterspout? Meaning, like an equivalent to EF3, EF4, and EF5? If so, has it ever damaged fishing ships or any other boating equipment? If not, what if it does happen?
3 AnswersWeather1 decade agoDo you think the world end on Dec. 21 2012, 5,000,000,000 c.e, or September 9, 2009? ?
Err ya. Just some dude thinking the end of the mayan calendar is the end of the world? Or when the sun goesup and swallows ya up?
This will be a poll between Dec. 21 2012 vs. 5,000,000,000 vs. 09/09/09 (aka. 6/6/06).
Also, talk about the 2012 thing, like is the planetary lineup true or if the polar shift is true etc.
