Dog sitting Headaches! Will NEVER dog sit again! Please advise.?
I've met my friend's rescued dog, pitbull mix, twice. She seemed ok. My friend, went on vacation, asked me to let her dog stay at my house for 2 weeks. I agreed because she is a friend.
Only 3 days, I want to pay out of my pocket to send her to the pet hotel for the remaining days, except I do not have her immunization records.
Problems with dog:
1. Won't pee when outside. Every time I stay outside in the yard with her for at least 45mins. But pees all over the house;
2. Cries non stop in the yard when left alone. Barks non-stop at my housemate; Have to shut myself in the room with her when he is around because she looks like she wants to attack.
3. 3 nights, woke me up 3x at 1-2am, thought she wanted to pee, for 30mins, she just played in the grass. 3-4am, cried/whined when I ignored her. Brought her out, just sniffed around. 6am (GEEZ, let me sleep!!!) ignored her but she growled and jumped on me. I thought she was going to attack me. Went out, won't pee again.
4. My friend said, "Don't leave her outside more than 1 hour. She will be sad." I have work. She already peed all over the house, peed on the sofa today when left in the house.
I reflected her behaviors to my friend and she thought I was lying because her baby is decently behaved at home.
Would it be bad if I just let her stay in the backyard/garage? I am afraid of her now after growling and jumping on me in the middle of night when I ignored her.
8 AnswersDogs5 years agoShould I call the cops on neighbor's screaming kid + noise after 11pm?
My neighbors do not put their 3 yr old to bed early. They let him sleep after 12am. Every night for the last 6 months, the toddler screams/shrieks nonstop between 10pm-12+am. The kid has also been screaming his head off when the parents tries to put him to back to sleep between 1-2am. The parents are also screaming at each other to make the boy sleep because they NEED TO WORK TOMORROW! Ya! They need to work, other people do not need to.
There is no talking to them. They are very nasty, inconsiderate and have that "I'm better than you" attitude. Last time after putting up with nuisance barking from their dogs for 9 months, I asked them nicely to quieten their dogs at night since their dogs barked nonstop 2-5am every night, they rudely told me to ST*F since their dogs were barking in their backyard not mine. They threw dog poop into my backyard for about a month and my other neighbor told me he saw the man kicking the heads off my water sprinkler at the property line.
I have not called the cops on them for noise disturbances even though many friends had told me to do so.
Should I call? First it was the dogs (dogs gone now because back gate was left open and they ran away), now it is the kid.
It is seriously not fun to be only able to sleep after 1am almost everyday and we have to wake up around 630am for work.
4 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police5 years agoWhat to do when the neighbor's kid won't stop screaming between 10pm--12+am?
My neighbor's kid is 2 years old. They let him sleep after 12am everyday. Between 10pm-12+am, the parents let the kid scream at the top of his voice non-stop within these 2 hours. Not sure if they are playing or what.
At the moment, he has been screaming for 1.5 hours already. It has been going on for the last 6 months. Geez, I have not been able to sleep safely till after 2am everyday and I need to wake up at 630am to get ready for work.
Not possible to talk to the neighbor. They are very nasty and inconsiderate people. The last time I tried to talk to them about their 2 barking dogs (barked everyday from 2am-6am), they told me to mind my own business, "my dogs are barking in my backyard. SO ST*U". They also threw dog poop in my backyard everyday for a month. One neighbor told me he saw the man kicked 2 of my water sprinkler's head off.
Last 2 weeks, because the kid had been playing till 12+am, he refused to sleep and threw huge tantrums at 1-2am, screaming and crying. The parents were screaming at each other to shut the kid up because "they need to work in the morning". Yes, they need to work, other people do not need to.
I've been told to call the police for noise disturbances by my friends. I have been avoiding it after the dog poop and off with my sprinkler heads incidents. However it has been really tempting for the last few weeks. Seriously lacking sleep.
Should I call the cops? Any suggestions?

11 AnswersLaw & Ethics5 years agoHow to deal with inconsiderate and revengeful neighbor?
My next door couple moved in (both in their mid 30s) about 1.5 years ago. Very unfriendly people. They have 2 shih tzus in the backyard 24/7. Those 2 dogs barks at everything.
Regardless of when, they could let the dogs bark non-stop as if it didn't bother them. Those dogs would bark every hour from 12-6am for about 15-30mins non-stop. Even with windows closed (I don't like sleeping with closed windows), I was woken up every time till I couldn't sleep. Other neighbors were frustrated too but they didn't want to talk to them. Finally sleep deprived for 9 months, I went over to talk to the guy. That guy was rude during the talk but after that, the dogs did not bark as much at night. 3 months' later, the barkings at night returned, from Christmas week till first week of 2015. I went over at 3am one night after 4 hours of 20-30mins continued barking and knocked on their door. They refused to open but went out to shut up their dogs.
Animal control came 2 weeks ago to check dog licenses for every house in the neighborhood. They must have thought I called animal control. They took revenge, calling the city, saying illegal construction going on in my backyard. The house was constructed in a way, only the old couple behind me and the rude neighbor could see my backyard. They called cops saying I was hitting a kid in my backyard when there are no kids in the house etc.
Now the dog barkings came back, basketball bounces 730pm-10pm every evening.
I don't know what to do anymore.
5 AnswersDogs6 years agoProfessor hinting niece is cheating?
My niece took an online accounting class this summer. An ethics question in the textbook (brief summary): Bruce wants to recognize revenue even when it has not been earned so that the company's financial statements would look better and he could gain higher year-end bonus. Kylie, the accountant, refused. What would be Kylie's probable steps? My niece's answer: 1. Solve the problem according to company's policy on ethical issues, if no policy, speak to head of department or manager. 2. If superiors do not help, report to audit committee or board of directors. 3. If nobody does anything, resign from position. 4. Seek legal advice if Kylie were to decide to speak to 3rd parties or SEC because she may get sued for divulging company's secrets.
The professor, first sent an email asking my niece to explain why her answer looked like the official answer. My niece replied that she took an ethics class prior to the current accounting class and was following guidelines provided in the textbook. The professor then asked her to provide the pages from the textbook with the guidelines in solving such problems, which my niece did. My niece even included a draft of the formal case analysis for the ethics class she took before this current class. Now the professor said her answer has almost the exact verbiage of the official answer and insisted her to provide the exact verbiage from the textbooks/guidelines.
I did take a look at her textbook and the formal case analysis my niece did. Even though there is no identical verbiage or sentence constructions as in the answer given, the way she answered and did the case analysis is very similar to her answer for the question. I really don't think that my niece was copying somebody's work since she was the first who answered that discussion question. She did ask the professor to kindly show her the official answer which the professor claimed to be identical to but the professor ignored her.
The professor had been ignoring her for 2 days and my niece is worried. She might not be the best, most hardworking or As student but she would not cheat. She won't be that stupid since she only had 6 classes left before she graduates plus if she has official answers, she would be getting all As and not Bs/Cs in classes. I have been through school too and from what I know, official answers aren't available to students in bookstores or online stores. I could be wrong about the availability of solutions now since I've been out of school for so many years.
Is there anything she could do?
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)8 years agoIs it my fault when I reared someone making a right turn when my light was green?
My light was green when I passed the crossroad junction. I was 3/4 across my green light when the woman made a right turn into my lane and stopped. Her light was red. I was going 40mph (speed limit 45mph). I couldn't change lane since there was a car in the next lane, couldn't stopped on time either, hence, reared her.
She cussed and swore at me.
I told the cop what happened, she had her own version, saying I ran red light, which I'm 100% sure I did not. The light was still green when I reared her.
In this case, my fault or hers?
Thanks!
8 AnswersInsurance & Registration8 years agoParking space and utility problem with back-house tenants?
My driveway is semi-circle with two entrances. This tenant has been living with his parents in the 700 sq ft backhouse for almost 6 years. They no longer have a lease and are month by month. The tenant is a car detailer by profession so he has a big water cart which he used when detailing cars. He used to have only 1 truck, a F150 and the big water cart. We gave him 2 parking spaces on the driveway (About 6 cars can be parked in the driveway without blocking the garage), his parents do not even drive, even though there are a lot of curb parking spaces around. Last Jan, he stopped using the water cart because he put a new water container on his truck so his water cart had been left at its spot. Last June, he bought another car and now he parked right in front of the other entrance of the driveway so that only he has exclusive use to that entrance. That side of driveway looked so cluttered now. I'd asked him nicely plenty of times to not block the driveway and park one of his vehicles next to the curb. He could park the vehicle on the driveway during street cleaning but I would really appreciate it if the driveway is parked on during other times. I live in a very safe and quiet neighborhood so there is minimal chance of vandalism.
Basically, this guy just ignored me most of the time. If he does move out of the driveway, he parks on the street right in front of the entrance to the driveway, blocking the driveway entrance too. I'm really running out of patience. My neighbors complained couple of times to me already about this guy parking in the middle of the road (he leaves like 2-3 ft distance between his car and the curb) for the whole day.
His 5 nephews and nieces started coming over everyday for his parents to babysit 3 years ago. My utilities bills since then, every summer thru winter, rocketed to $400-$500/month because they leave the ac and heater on 24/7. Before renting the backhouse out, my utility bill is only about $120/month. His brothers and sisters come over to take showers daily, wash their cars every week (they would just let the water run while soaping the cars) etc because in the initial lease, utilities were covered in the rent.
Initial lease (They only want to go month by month now):
1. No mention of giving them any parking spaces but he was given 2 spots to provide convenience;
2. Utilities (electricity/water/gas) were included but it was only intended for his parents and him. They never told us that they would be bringing in so many other people or so many of them would be taking advantage.
Since they are month-to-month now, could I tell them to pay for utilities? Could I also tell them to pay for the extra parking spot? Can the rent be raised? Previously when they were living in apartments, they were paying about $2k each month for rent/utilities and parking. Now, they aren't even paying half of that. They don't even allow us to go check the backhouse. The only good thing about them is they usually aren't late on the rent. Their rent was only raised $50 once when they opted to go month by month.
It's really getting to be a pain in the behind now because that guy is behaving like he owns the place, disregarding polite requests.
3 AnswersOther - Home & Garden8 years agoAshes of pet, keep or scatter?
My beloved canine companion of 11 years died 2 days ago.
I am really torn between wanting to keep his ashes or setting him free. I had initially wanted to keep his ashes so that he would be buried/scattered with my ashes when I die.
Seeing me really grieving and constantly crying, my mum consulted a buddhist monk.
He told her to tell me to:
1. Bury or scatter my love's ashes: It is to set him free instead of holding him back. He would be lost spiritually if he stays too long. Let him be free, free to go wherever he wants. Love transcends time and space. He has already passed on but the love I have for him and his love for me go on and he will remain in my memory and heart for the rest of my life. He is still with me, in my heart.
2. Donate all his belongings, toys, beds, clothes, everything to generate positives for him.
I've already made appointment with an animal shelter to donate all his belongings.
Yet, today, when I was making arrangement to release his ashes into the sea, I was told that if I release my beloved alone, he would be alone with strangers and not be loved ones. It would scare him.
I want my love to be happy and free. He's such a good baby. I really really don't want to do anything to prevent him from moving on if souls/spirits do exist.
I grew up in an Asian community so I fully understand what the Buddhist monk is saying.
I don't know what I should do now, keep his ashes till I can accompany him or bury him at sea. It is so hard but I need to make a decision. I want the best for my baby and the last thing I want is for him to be unable to leave, holding him back.
Thank you.
