  • Home Appraisals?

We got an accepted offer on the home we are looking to buy. The house itself does need some work as it was a foreclosure (my fiance is a home builder so that doesnt worry us) however I am curious to know what are all the factors of a home appraisal? Is land factored into that? We are in Wisconsin if that matters

  • Yeast infection causing hair loss?

Ok so to make a long story short my horse has been loosing his main, tail, and all of his forelock and just the past week loosing hair on his face, no he has not been itchy. The vet was out last monday and she did a skin scrape for ringworm(results in 2 days) and fungus(full results in 2 weeks). The ringworm test came back negative and on Saturday I talked to my vet and she said as of now she is not seeing and major fungus except she was seeing yeast. First of which i have never heard of yeast causing hair loss? She was not exactly sure what cause the yeast, allergy, hormones, ect?? however she sugessted that use iodine every 3 days on the affected areas and then use microtek spray for 2 weeks and if we dont see improvement, then we will try something else. I am wishing she would have given me something (antibiotics, steriods, something) to help him. He is totally acting like himself the poor guy is just loosing hair.

Not sure if i shoud get a second opinion

Opinions or thoughts would be appreciated.

  • My horse is loosing his tail, mane, & forelock?

Ok so about a month ago I used MTG on my horses tail...about 2 weeks ago my barn owner and I noticed that his tail was starting to just fall out. We have ruled out rubbing as it is not a scraggly like the normal rubbed tail. Unfortunately a few things have changed for him just recently as well too... He was on Safe Choice but is now on our local mills sweet feed blend, he is also started on flax seed around that same time. He has absolutely no other side affects(we have been watching him very closely) he is eating just fine, acting like his normal self, and all other things seem to be fine. DONT WORRY the vet is coming out to check him out, however in the mean time I am just curious if anyone else has ever experienced this.

Would it be possible that the flax seed could have something to do with it??

P.S. The other to horses at my barn are showing nothing similar to what is going on with my horse. They are all on the same feed, they all go out together the only thing different is my horse is getting the flax seed.

Any input would be apprecitated! Thanks in advance

  • Liberty(free lunging) Music...Please give me your opinions!?

So my friend and I want to put together a video of your horses free lunging together, so we can summit it for a chance to be able to do it at a horse fair. However we also need music to go with our video! We have a couple songs in mind but nothing that is really winning us over. If it makes any difference we have two paints and we are looking for something fun and fast beat.

-So my question is....What song or music would you liked to see used if you would be watching a liberty event???

    Thanks in Advance!

  • Question about Bates Caprilli English Saddles?

I am newer to the "english world" I perviously rode western but my new horse is more english so I am switching. Anyways a friend of mine has a Bates Caprilli saddle that she is trying to sell me. The saddle does have the easy-change gullet system and is in very good condition. With the saddle she will include cover, case, all trees, leathers, irons, and a girth for $900. I am just wondering what other people's thoughts are and if this is a good deal or not. Also if anyone else reading this owns a Bates saddle do you like it???

Thanks in advance for you advice!

  • Springer Spaniel Owners Pls take a look!?

My parents have a 12 and 1/2 yr old Springer Spaniel...For his age he is overall good health! However a couple months ago he developed an ear hematoma we took him to the vet and they did what they did and everything seemed to be just fine...when he was in there they looked at his ears(because he was shaking his head a lot and thats what we thought originally caused it) they said that his ears looked very clean and couldnt see anything wrong with them! However last night my mom noticed that he had another one but on his other ear.

So I am just wondering if this is something that Springer's are prone to get or whats really going on??

we will be taking him back to the vet (he has an appt. tomorrow) but I am just curious to if others seem to have this issue with there springers...because the surgery is pretty expensive

    Thanks Inadvance

    3. Why do you like it??

I know everyone is different but just curious to see what other people like

  • Getting to be blanket time...opinions please!?

Ok...so I live in the midwest US it tends to get pretty cold here through our winter months! I have always blanketed my previous horses...but normally not until it gets fairly cold.

Now I have a 2yr. old paint that has done a LOT of growing this summer and looks like he's getting into another growth spurt. As of right now it isn't terribly cold but many other horses that I see are already getting a fairly good winter coat going...but my boy still hardly has anything. He is turned out during the day and comes in at night. I probably wont be working him to much this winter...just letting him grow :)

    So my questions(sorry a couple)

-do you currently blanket your own horse and if you were in my position would you blanket my horse early?

-also what type of blanket do you typically tend to use?? ex. if over 50degrees a light weight, ect.

P.S. I know about blankets...just curious to see what everyone's opinion is and what other people typically do :)

  • Thinning my horses mane for a show?

Okay! So just a little background I have a 2yr. old paint horse who I am showing in a local open show this weekend! I will be showing Halter and Showmanship(Given that he is taking the whole show scene well, since it will be his first) But any ways I want to thin his mane out but I don't really want to pull it the old fashion way as he can be a little impatient, SO I have seen many different thinning tools out there and I was wondering

    -if anyone has used them

-how exactly do they work(what is the proper way to use them)

-and if it is worth it???

Any info about them would be much appreciated! Thanks in Advance!!

  • Some more ideas on Bending Exercises?

OK so I have a 2yr old. paint that I am SLOWLY starting under saddle(I only ride him about once a week and only at the walk mainly with a few minutes of trotting) I am planning on showing him locally probably mainly in HUS and maybe a little Western Pleasure. So to get to my question is what are some good bending exercises that I can do with him on the ground or in the saddle to make him more soft and supple?? If you can please describe in detail.

    Thank you in advance

(please dont say send him to a trainer...I am planning on sending him to training once he is a little older and his structure is more mature, I am just looking for more things to do with him now)

  • 30 day notice question...Please give you opinion!?

Ok, to make a long story short...the children of the barn were I am at now took over when the grandparents wanted to "retire" Since then...things have been way different and I feel like I am constantly be watched! Ex.

~ Horses dont go out until about 9am and are usually let in by 6pm (I personally dont think that is long enough)

~ My horse had a cut on his front leg(nothing serious) but they never even said anything! (GRR)

~ Stalls arent cleaned until like 4pm...so the barn constantly stinks!

~ The stalls have like no shavings...which wouldnt be bad but my horse lays down a lot

~ Water buckets arent cleaned, ect. ect.

SO to get to my question I have found a new barn that I want to move to....VERY nice people and I cant wait to go!

My mom found our boarding agreement and it does not state anywhere in it about a 30 notice...but I dont want to leave there on a bad note...because I am friends with there niece and will see them at shows, ect.

So would it be wrong to give them like a 2week notice...meaning move out July 1st or should I do a 30 day notice and state that I am leaving Aug. 1st?

P.S. I can not afford to pay at both places(like pay where I am at now for July but leave and go to the new barn)

  • Small Scabs that itch on my springer spaniel?

So, my parents dog is a 12yr old springer spaniel. A while back he had a bad ear infection in his one ear so the vet gave us stuff to take care of it. It eventually went away and the itching and shaking went away. A few weeks went by and then he started shaking and scratching his ears again.. He went into the vet a couple weeks ago for spring shots so we had them check his ear...they said that they were as clean as can be...not sure why he would have itchy ears. Well last week when I gave him a hair cut I noticed there were scabs on the tips of his ears...(A while back when he was kenneled out side he had the same type of scab and at that time the vet said it was brought on by wild animals...possibly drinking out of his bowl, ect. they gave use something for it but it was a couple yrs ago so I dont remember what it was) So long story short...I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered this and if so what was your treatment??

P.S. we do have a vet appt. late next week to have them looked at...just wondering what I can do in the mean time!
