3 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoAccording to the Geneva convention (or other relevant treaty),do embassies lose their protection if..?
they shelter a sides combatants in a conflict who are still contributing to the conflict? An example would be providing intelligence or radioing orders from inside a neutral country's embassy.
Would it matter if it was with or without the staff's knowledge?
If such a thing occurs is it legal to attack the embassy to neutralize the combatant?

14 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoAre Haiti earthquake relief operations coordinated under UN command, US command, or seperate?
I've heard that the coordination for supplies and getting them where they need to go has not been done to the best of its ability, so I'd like to know who to blame.
-I've seen articles which claim that all operations are under UN command, so why these headlines about Haitian anger at the US for not getting things where they need to be when that is actually overseen by the UN?

2 AnswersTrivia1 decade agoShould the United States back Canada's bid for the Arctic?
or go it ourselves?
While we could make a good go of it alone, I personally would not want to alienate a neighbor country to such an extent. While if we supported Canada's bid, we would more than likely continue to have a solid ally for future endeavors, good pr with the populace, and most of that oil would probably go to us anyways, from a better source than saudi arabia.
Perhaps a deal where Canada would have claims on the resources, and the United States would defend those claims (Canada not having a large enough military to defend large portions of the Arctic) in return for a discount on the oil.
Canada would get more money, Opec's stranglehold could be broken, Middle-East declines in importance to countries that can make use of Canada's oil, Canada-US relations could probably get a boost, and it would be slightly less likely to start ww3 with perceptions of a US- Russian war.
That said, this may backfire if canadians decide to loosen ties with the United States as it grows in importance in the world. This would certainly stir tensions on the North American continent, and I doubt the border would remain de-militarized for very long.
Also of course the ww3 with Russia as the opponent that is a possibility for any and all scenario aside from total agreement with Russia's current ludicrous claims.
5 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoConcerning historical and cultural ties from Americans...?
Would you agree or disagree that those born in America, regardless of starting origin, effectively have a connection with the British/ Canadians/ Australians through the historical and cultural ties of the nation?
Personally my family migrated from Russia (moved around the early 1900's), yet being a 3rd generation American, I associate myself more with Britain historically and the Australians (NZ as well), British, and Canadians culturally.
Would you say this is weird or natural? This isn't a matter of race, it is a matter of where I feel closer to historically and culturally.

2 AnswersHistory1 decade agoCan the internet be dismissed as a valid source of information, just because it is the internet?
I am under the impression that the internet is a valid source of information depending on the sites used. My friend claims that it is not a valid source, or at least less valid than hearing information from a person (lets say from a congressman on the whole Obama birther argument). What do you think?
7 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoIs the tom clancy's endwar multiplayer worth playing?
I am thinking of buying the game for pc , so i'd like to know if the community and the multiplayer is any good. Jews have become more and more absorbed into America, to the point where many have become secularized, and some even christian! Will it reach the point where Jews in America will eventually be Jews in name only? Will we succeed where Hitler failed? Not with flypaper, but with honey?
