  • What can the name 'May' be a nickname for?

I really like the nickname May for a girl. What could be the long versions of her name? Thanks :)

  • How is this girls name pronounced?

Is the name Maia pronounced 'My-a' or 'May-a'? Also, is Maya said differently?

Maia was the earth goddess of springtime in Greek mythology, maybe a variant of Gaia (Guy-a) but she also lent her name to the month of May so would that make it 'May-a'?

Could they be pronounced differently with different accents (eg. Cara; 'Care-a' or 'Car-a')? I'm British so would that effect the way we say Maia?

(I also love the name the name Emma but don't know where to fit it in to this list)

  • What are some Harry-Potter-sounding names?

Boys and girls names that sound like they could have been used in Harry Potter, but weren't. I'm looking for quirky, quite old-fashioned, British names, and maybe middle names too (not my baby).

    Thanks for your help!
