Why does internal energy increase?
A book sliding across a horizontal tabletop slows until it comes to rest. Describe what change, if any, occurs in the book s kinetic energy and internal energy as it slows.
Please explain why the internal energy increases. Is there any equation I m supposed to use?? What is the relationship between internal energy, work, and kinetic energy?
I understand that the kinetic energy decreases because velocity becomes 0.

2 AnswersSoftware7 years agoProbability Seating Arrangement Questions?
A car holds six passengers. three in the front seat and three in the back seat. How many different seating arrangements of six people are possible if one person refuses to sit in front and one person refuses to sit in the back?
How many ways can five men and five girls be seated at a round table so that each girl is between two men?
Please give full and clear explanations for how to do these probability problems! I already know the correct answers for both but I need explanations.
1 AnswerMathematics7 years agoMissing a USB cable?
So on my Motorola modem I have 4 outlets: Ethernet, USB, Cable, and Power.
Currently, I have the Ethernet, Cable and Power all plugged in and on. I am missing the USB cable. All the lights are on and consistent. The "PC/Activity" is the only flashing light.
The Ethernet cable is connected to the Linksys DSL Router. The Linksys Router is turned on.
However, there's still no wifi in my house.
Do I need to get a USB cable for the wifi to work? OR is it possible for the wifi to work without it?
What am I doing wrong?
Where can I obtain the USB cable? (can you attach a link of one from Amazon, BestBuy, etc.)
Thanks!

1 AnswerEngineering7 years agoHelp me find a good song?
I haven't been talking much to my bf recently because I've been really busy and I miss them a lot. I think he's a little bit mad at me so are there any songs about like apologizing for not being around or something/missing him a lot? (Please, I don't want a song about breaking up with someone and then missing them, or someone dying and then missing them.)
1 AnswerLyrics8 years agocomputer password problems?
OK. I just created a second user account on my computer by using my first account.
My first account has a password and every time I change that password, it first asks me to type in my current password.
However, my second account also has a password. But when I click on change the password, it DOES NOT SAY type in current passowrd. That means that if I open that user account for someone, they can change the password freely without my knowing.
HOW CAN I GET MY SECOND ACCOUNT TO ASK FOR THE CURRENT PASSWORD TOO?
Note: I made the second account the administrator and the first account a standard user.
2 AnswersSecurity9 years agoTeaching Kindergarten and 1st Graders?
I have a summer job teaching kindergarten and 1st grade. Students are mixed into one class. I'm wondering what to teach them and what basic skills in reading, math, and writing. For example is identifying patterns too simple? or too hard? What about reading a passage from a picture book by themselves? Too easy or too hard?
It would be cool if you were a parent of a kindergartener and first grader. Can you tell me what your child has learned in school? If you're a teacher for those grades, that's even better.
Can anyone please help?
(I'm in 8th grade going to 9th)

5 AnswersClassical9 years agoLeaky Clues to Dam Design!?
(TRY TO) PLEASE ANSWER BY 5/26!!! DESPERATE
Help! I'm currently doing a project using procedure, materials, etc. all from sciencebuddies' Leaky Clues to Dam Design: How Reservoir Heights Affects Hydroelectric Power Production. I'm having a lot of trouble here (I'm currently in 8th grade).
My science teacher said that currently all we are doing is using the formula (Bernoulli's equation) to figure out the power production. Thus, she said if we actually wanted to do an experiment we had to make a real generator. We are also making a generator and testing it and using the equation as the backup to check it. The procedure for how to make this generator can be found here: http://www.builditsolar.com/Projects/Educational/M...
There are several things we are confused about.
1. When we measure the stuff that the generator produces...
a) what are we measuring?
b) why measure the alternating current using voltages?
c) how can we convert that to kilowatts so that it is comparable with the kilowatts produced in the experiment with Leaky Clues?
2. the procedure says to put the jug on a stool. do we add the height of the stool in adition to the distance from the bottom of the jug to the hole? Does the reservoir height incliude the stools' height?
3. Procedure states for us to measure the reservoir height during the minute that we are testing. IS that really neccesary?
4. In the procedure, they used ONE milk jug for three holes. For some reason, I suspected inaccuracy of data if we have all three holes releasing water at the same time. Also, I wouldn't be able to the the water flow rate if I don't know how much water was gone after releasing each hole... Thus I decided to use THREE milk jugs for three holes, one hole per jug. HOW WILL THIS AFFECT MY DATA? WILL IT MAKE IT MORE OR LESS ACCURATE?
5. WHAT IS THE COEFFICIENT OF EFFICIENCY? I think it varies from plant to plant. But then what are we going to multiply by in order to get the power in kW?! In general, what is the typical coefficient of efficiency? I know it's impossible to have 100% efficiency and the more modern dams today are only approaching 90%....
6. When it says stream length, that is the distance the water shoots from the hole to the point on the tape measure right?
If you can't answer these questions, it's fine. Then please just please post your results to the Leaky Dam experiment so that I could compare. OR if you had done a project where you measured the energy produced from a water turbine/generator, IN GENERAL how many voltages, are we supposed to have?
Also, photos or videos of the project would be helpful.
Thanks so much in advance
2 AnswersEngineering9 years agoWhat is the intervals C to C#?
What interval is C to C sharp?
I thought it was minor second because C to D is a major second and a half step down would be C# so it would become minor second? Is this right or wrong?
1 AnswerOther - Music9 years agoHow can you tell when an interval is major, minor, diminished or argumented?
A video would help a lot. Also give example problems. In the music theory books, it sounds simple but when I do the problems, I get most of them wrong.
