Knee Injury PLEASE help me!!?
Today in gym I was diving for the ball (we were playing volleyball) and my knee shot backwards. Then I was walking home from school today and stepped on some un-even snow/ice and my knee twisted really hard and I felt a pop, but was still able to walk and I can still walk. But when I am standing to compare my knees and straighten them, the injured knee seems to shoot back farther than my normal un-injured knee.. What is wrong? I have a physical tomorrow morning, should I mention this to them? What do you think is wrong with my knee?
It's a little bit swollen and there's some pain, and bruising on my knee.
3 AnswersInjuries7 years agoKnee Injury! What do I do?! PLEASE HELP?
I'm 14 years old, and today I was walking, and I fell, but my leg was extended, and now when I stand I noticed my shin kind of goes back? And when I'm walking, I get a lot of pain on the sides of my knee, and in the back. It's very stiff inside, and it's bruising up.
My knee is kind of swollen, this just happened not to long ago, so it's not a whole lot of swelling, and when I move it while laying down I can feel a grinding sensation. Also, when I bend into a squat, and then stand back up, I can hear a whole bunch of snapping and popping noises come from my injured knee.. I feel like I hyperextended it and tore something in my knee, but I don't know..
What do you think is wrong? And what do I do??!

I was playing soccer during gym two days ago, and when I had the ball, I was trying to get around another girl to prevent her from getting it. I kicked it, really hard but after my knee stopped abruptly, and it was flexed. (When I say it stopped abruptly, I mean my foot was planted on the ground, and my weight was on that leg and I stopped really fast. )
The next day, I was taking it easy... But my friend ended up hitting my knee really hard with her fist. She said it was an "accident" but ever since, it's been hurting a lot.
It hurts a lot when I'm going up and down stairs, and there's some pain when I'm walking. The pain is on the inside of my knee, kind of on the sides? And then there's pressure everywhere else, if that makes sense. I know something's wrong. I've had knee injuries before, but never got them checked. There's also grinding in my knee, I can feel it when I place my hand on my kneecap, then move my leg.
There's a pain that's on my thigh as well, like it's right above my knee and below my thigh. ..
I'm really worried and I don't know what to do. I'm 14 years old, and a freshman in highschool..
What could it be? Please help!!

Alright, so I have too knee injuries.
LEFT KNEE: About 5 months ago, I fell down the stairs and landed on my LEFT knee cap, on my tiled floor. I was able to walk and stuff, but it was incredibly sore. Now, 5 months later, if I bend down to reach for something, my left knee lets out a loud "SNAP!" noise, and it's incredibly PAINFUL! I also noticed that when I'm laying down on my right side, and bend my knees, my left knee also pops as well and it hurts.!
RIGHT KNEE: 4 months ago, I was in the shower and (embarrassing enough) I turned and my knee twisted to the side really fast, and I fell and landed on my right knee. Now, the bottom of showers are incredibly hard... so you can imagine. I had to literally hop out somehow and went to bed and elevated me knee cap.
I noticed that on BOTH of my knees, they are slightly turned to the side, and it hurts when I'm running and bending down. Grinding can be felt when I'm moving my shin, if you were to put your hand on the bottom of my knee and over the top of my shin bone, you can feel the grinding, this happens on BOTH knees.
I also noticed that my feet are turned to the side, and it was noticed after the injury.
Is it possible I tore something in them? Or dislocated? It has been 4-5 months of this and it hasn't gotten better. If you could give me a diagnosis for each knee that'd be great.
Also, should I get it checked out?
3 AnswersInjuries8 years agoWhat's wrong with my knee?
Okay so last week on Monday, my friend tripped me in P.E and I flung about 2 feet in the air, before landing on my left knee. Then on Tuesday, we were outside and the grass is very.. VERY un even, and I stepped on it wrong and my knee was twisted roughly and quickly to the side before going back- I walked with a limp for the rest of the day.
On Thursday I was in the shower, and I slipped because of the soapy water, and I landed again on the same knee that was injured previously.
It's been 2 weeks and when I walk, it feels like my knee is, literally, scraping against the top of my shin! And it feels like there's something on the inside, like I don't know how to explain it, but its very stiff. When I go down the stairs, a pop can be felt in my knee. It's been keeping me up all night because of the pain, and I'm mostly feeling pain on the front of my knee cap, on the sides, and in the back.
Did I fracture it AND pull something? And how do I get my mom to take me to the doctor?
1 AnswerInjuries8 years agoKnee Injury! Please help!?
I fell down a few steps, and landed very hard on my left knee. I fall down a lot and always catch myself on my knees ,so there's always a lot of impact on them, but today I fell really hard and landed on a tiled floor.
Now, for the past week, if I walk for more than 1-2 minutes, I get immense pain in my left knee, it feels like its scraping against something; maybe my shin bone or muscle in my leg? I really don't know, I walk with a limp if this happens and immediately want to just sit on the floor right then and there and rest it. I tried to ice it during class, but it didn't help at all.
It doesn't hurt all the time, only when I'm walking.
I read somewhere to try the straight leg test-- when you lay flat and lift up your leg, I tried this and it was really uncomfortable, and when I set my leg back down, my knee slides in a right to left position and it pops sometimes.
Also, when I sit down with my knees straight, I get this big uncomfortable feeling in my left knee, and I noticed it's slightly turned to the side, and its flatter in than my right knee, and it just hurts really bad.
Also, today when I was walking, my left leg was very unstable. It was numb, and when I walked, everything below my knee (shin, etc) shifted to the side, making me loose my footing.
Did I fracture it? Break it? Tear something? Its a very uncomfortable feeling, and I can feel it swelling up and I have no idea what to do.
I'm only 14, if that helps and I haven't ever broken/fractured/sprained my leg or knee before, so I don't know what it would feel like., but its very uncomfortable when I sit, like something's under my bone?

1 AnswerInjuries8 years agoTEENS and MOMS: What do I do?
The reason why I'm calling out to moms as well is to get their side opinions on this.
I'm going to spare everyone the details, and just go ahead and say that I injured myself. Badly. I don't know what's wrong with it, but it hurts really bad when I walk, and when I sit down and its swollen, yadayada Im not here for a diagnosis.
However, my mom wont take me to the doctors because she doesn't want me to get an x-ray, only to find out that all I need is rest and ice. I get that, but I know there's something wrong with my knee.
Teens: What should I do? How can I get her to take me to the hospital? Because other family members live more than 5 hours away, so its not like they can take me to the hospital.
Moms: What's your perspective on this? Its hard for me to walk and she still wont take me unless I absolutely cant walk! What should I do?
Thanks!!
2 AnswersFamily8 years agoShould I go to the hospital?
Ok so I injured myself awhile ago, and my knee is in immense pain. It isn't swollen, if anything it's smaller, like it got caved inward, because its smaller than my right knee. And its turned to the side. I can still walk, but I noticed myself limping slightly, and it hurts really bad inside of my knee.
Should I go to the hospital and get it checked out????
