Help with my character's name?
For the past 15 months or so, I have been shaping a world in my mind. It's a fantasy world, which I intend to share with others via my writing. The story will be told through the perspective of a young male. He is a warrior, to make things short. Everything in my story is developed almost to its fullest and is ready to be written. There is only one detail that is holding me back: I can't think of a name for my main character. Now, this book takes place in a time period similar to the early middle ages, about the same time that Rome fell. It is for this reason that certain characters will have names derived from latin words. My main character was unfortunately the most difficult to name, having the root 'Terra'. I didn't put much thought into it, but I did quickly throw together the name 'Terracius'. That was months ago, but it has embedded itself in my mind so well that it has impeded my ability to create an actualy good sounding name. It sounds fake and forced. It's hard to pronounce, and it's just full of problems. The whole time, the fact that the name wasn't very good echoed through my mind, but I ignored it. That is why I'm here. The name must have a root that is derived for a latin word for earth, ground, land, planet, etc. It really doesn't matter, so long as it sounds good and masculine. Here is a link to a latin dictionary:

Just select 'english to latin' and see if you can think of anything. If you do create a name, please leave it along with the root. I really appreciate the help. Thank you.

5 AnswersBooks & Authors8 years agoCharacter name problems?
I have begun to write a novel, and I have everything very planned out. Only one (potential) problem exists: I'm not sure if my characters name is spelled correctly for the way I want to spell it. His name is 'Terracius' (and, yes, it does have significance). My concern is that the 'a' is supposed to have a long-vowel sound, but I'm not sure it should be spelled that way. Is this correct? If not, how should I spell it? On another note, I could change his name entirely if you have a better idea. It just has to be based off of the word 'Terra'. Who knows, I might like it better. Thanks for all your help.
5 AnswersBooks & Authors8 years agoXbox connection terrible?
My Xbox is on a wired connection. A few months ago, my connection started to give out. I switched to a faster internet and a brand new modem. My connection was flawless for a while, but now it's terrible. I don't know why. The modem and ethernet cable are brand new, and my ISP says that there isn't a problem. My connection is never good anymore; it usually sits at a slow three-bars in a game of COD, but it constantly drops to one or two. The strangest thing is that every couple of months I will get a weekend when I have perfect connection again. I have Quality of Service turned on, so it can't be a bandwidth issue. Restarting my router seems to do nothing, and my connection is worse when I'm connected directly to the modem. My connection remains the same even if it is the only thing connected to the internet. Also, all of the Xbox troubleshooting solutions have been attempted with no success. It can't be damage to any part of the wire because it's brand new. Does anybody have any idea what is causing this? It's very frustrating. If I left out any details, ask about them and I'll give them to you.

I have a wired connection to my Xbox 360. It has been wired for about 6 weeks now, and for the first 5 my connection was flawless. This past week it's been terrible. I haven't changed or done anything that would cause this, it just suddenly dropped. I can play live, but my voice is very choppy and in games like Halo 4 and BO 2 I have a very slow, laggy connection. It isn't my NAT, that's open. I can't figure out why it would just drop. Can anyone help?
2 AnswersVideo & Online Games8 years agoWOW internet failing?
I have WOW internet and the past few days my internet has been painfully slow. I haven't done anything that should be causing this, and I am on a wired internet. My question is that maybe WOW could be causing this. I live near Chicago. I've contacted them before, though not too recently. Has anyone else with WOW internet had this problem the past few days?

I have a wired connection to my xbox 360. It's been on wired for 5-6 weeks, and it worked flawlessly, at least until 3 days ago. Since then, I have been getting a very slow 3 bar connection that constantly drops down to 1 or 2. I didn't do anything that could possibly cause this, and I can't seem to find anyone who has experienced this problem before. Any help would be appreciated.

1 AnswerXbox8 years agoEvil character traits?
I have a bit of a 'project' that I'm working on, and I need to use seven different evils. These have to be major things, and I have five. They are Corruption, Deceit, Cruelty, Betrayal and Greed. Any suggestions are appreciated. If no one can suggest a good one, please suggest that I replace one of the more broad terms with two less broad ones.
