had bought a HP Pav 6928 series duel core refurb'd laptop from a friend of mine who is less computer literate than I am. So I'm unhappy to report there are no recovery cd's, there are back-ups but who knows how long these problems have been present for, factory O/S cd, manual, I have nothing. I figured instead of attempting to restore vista I would simply go the inevitable route and upgrade now. so I purchased a home edition upgrade, ran the compatibility check, eventually everything checked out so a ran the disc. Chose the option where you keep your personal files, options, ect and all went good. I then did my updates, all of them. Am now running service pack one. So, of course, a person has now re-booted think three times so, at least I did, a person would think since they booted up for the third time now no way there was a problem with the installation b/c would it not have givin me this issue the first time. Anyways, my problem First was that my user profile could not be loaded, i've managed to bubblegum my way thru that issue, don't ask how b/c i do not remember. Now tho, there are so many things unavailable to me. Search, Run from start, msi, numerous snap-ins, i don't know what to do. I was unable to run a backup b4 my upgrade (one reason why I had wanted to) but my upgrade is genuine, i have the disc, if anyone is able to help me PLEASE email me. i check twice to three times weekly but will try to check twice daily regarding my post. My monther in-law lets all of us, well, kids for lack of better term, use her computer. which is great for m,e b/c I don't tread where i might get lost. Now, I was about to open a .zip file when to my suprise it has a music note for an icon. Now I know she would never have gotten herself to a place where she coiuld change it, nor would she hav if she did. Neither of her boys will admit so I am left turning to my neighbors in cyber space... Help Me!! This is not my device nor do I want to be be blamed or banned from using it. How do I get into the properties of files, change back to ?? whatever it was to begin w/ and not screw up her system? I thought going to say a systems file w/ the media player icon and changing opens with properties would work...but what did it open w/ and are they all different? AHHH HELP ME PLEASE!!

I have a game that is to scratched to play. Is there any way that I can rip a game onto a computer program and be able to burn it onto another disc?? If so, what kind of disc would I use, DVD-R, CD-R, etc??

My friend used to send emails to my cell phone. I tried typing in her phone number in the receipiant box but that didn't work. How do I go about doing this??
