  • Should I keep Matt Ryan or Ahmad Bradshaw?

I'm in a 12-person keeper league and we can keep one player from last year. I can keep either Matt Ryan in the 4th round or Ahmad Bradshaw in the 6th. Most of the elite QBs- Rodgers, Rivers, P. Manning, Brady are being kept as well as many of the top RBs - AP, S. Jackson, McFadden, Jamaal Charles, Jones-Drew, McCoy and Arian Foster. Who should I keep? I'm leaning towards Matt Ryan but I'm not sure.

  • Is this LA County rent increase unreasonable?

My younger brother lives in a one bedroom apartment in Hawthorne, CA. He's lived there for 18 months, paying $850 a month in rent - I believe utilities are included because he's never mentioned a utility bill. He's just been informed that his rent is going to increase to $925 - an increase of about 8.8%.

He's looking at moving, but struggling to pull together the moving expenses. He's asked me if I think it is worth it for him to move.

It's been many years since I rented an apartment, so I'm wondering if this is an unreasonable increase? If utilities are included, I can see higher energy costs contributing to this increase. Plus, I've heard that rental prices are increasing in some areas as more people lose their homes.

I'm just concerned that if he does move, he could find himself in the same situation in 12-18 months. Also, he's in a fairly decent area right now but I am concerned that he could end up in a bad one.

  • Honda civic spoiler - much cheaper aftermarket?

I am buying a 2008 Honda Civic. I like the look of the rear wing spoiler with the centerline tail light (I know it doesn't serve any real purpose, but I like the look).

My question is: would I save that much money having it installed by an aftermarket shop versus having the dealership put it on? Dealer cost is around $650 - I am assuming that at an aftermarket shop I'll have to pay for the spoiler, painting to match and a couple hours of labor. If the dealership does it, it'll be sure to match and it'll be covered under the warranty. Is it worth doing it aftermarket?

I will select a best answer.

  • Does it matter where a Honda Civic or Accord is built in terms of quality?

I am looking into buying a new Honda - either a Civic or an Accord. When searching the inventory of my local dealers, I notice that the Civics are either built in the USA or Canada while the Accords are either built in the USA or Japan. Does anyone know if there are quality differences between the three countries? I've heard that if you buy a Volkswagen built in Mexico, you're more likely to have problems with it than with one built in Germany. I haven't heard anything similar with Honda, but I wanted to see if anyone had.

FYI, you can tell country of origin by the first digit of the VIN: 1=USA, 2=Canada, 3=Mexico, J=Japan, W=Germany.

  • Berkeley-Marine Corps story - what are these people thinking?

Here's a quote pulled from CNN.com's story on the Berkeley City Council revising their position on the Marine Corps Recruiting Station: But Jean Stewart called the council's stand "courageous and gutsy," saying the war was "immoral." And Judy Christopher said, "We need to stop the war. We need to stop recruitment."

Now, protesting against the Iraq war is one thing - protesting against the government is a right that many people in the world do not enjoy. What I don't understand is the people who take the position of "We have to stop recruitment." What is the alternative? No one in their right mind can expect that the US would disband the military.

The only alternative is a draft - is that what these people are angling for? Why would they think involuntary conscription is a better system than voluntary enlistment? Or are these people simply attention seekers?

Before I'm accused of never having served: I was in the Navy, 1985-92, in the "Arabian" Gulf 86-88.

  • Proper way to address USAF and Army senior enlisted?

In the Navy, a Master Chief Petty Officer is addressed as Master Chief, but never as Chief (at least I never heard it or did it). What I was wondering is how are USAF Chief Master Sergeants or Senior Master Sergeants normally addressed? As Master Sergeant? Their full title seems to bit a bit of a mouthful.

Similarly, how is an Army Sergeant First Class typically addressed?

  • Genetic Genealogy vs Natl Geographic's Genome Project?

I'm interested in having a "deep ancestry" DNA analysis. I've known about National Geographic's Genome Project for some time, but I recently discovered the Genetic Genealogy website. It looks like GG costs $20 more than Natl Geo, but I don't recall Natl Geo offering surname info. What are people's opinions on which project is better?

I understand that deep ancestry DNA analysis won't tell me here my great-great-grandfather came from; I'd just like some help choosing which kit to purchase.

  • What is going on with all the Republican retirements?

With Senator Lott's retirement, that makes six in the Senate. Rep. Hastert just stepped down and I'm sure that there have been others in the House. What is going on?

On the one hand, I am thinking that the old guard of the Republican party is stepping down in order to allow a younger generation to present a "new" party in the 2010 mid-terms. On the other, I'm skeptical that these guys would willingly give up their power for the bigger picture.

  • Where's a good place to watch the Pack in SE Wisconsin?

I live in Illinois, which means that I'll be stuck with the Bears on TV on Sunday. What I'm looking for is somewhere in SE Wisconsin with very little or no smoking where I can watch Favre break Marino's TD record. Someone suggested the Buffalo Wild Wings in Kenosha. Anywhere else?

  • Staying in London - Bloomsbury or Bayswater?

I'll be spending a few days in London, mostly sight-seeing. I found a hotel (the Bonnington near Russell Square) that seemed nice (four stars) and convenient. I've gotten some conflicting feedback about what this area is like. I've had some recommendations that I stay along Bayswater Road around the Queensway Station as it is "nicer" and "safer".

What do people think? Queensway seems rather out of the way. Thanks!

  • Does the warranty (10 yr/100k) on a Hyundai Elantra trump the Honda Civic's reputation for reliability?

I am debating between purchasing a 2007 Honda Civic or a 2007 Hyundai Elantra. I drive about 20k miles per year. Should I go with Honda's reputation for reliability, given that I will drive out of the warranty in about 18 months or go with Hyundai's 10 year/100k warranty? I previously owned a Hyundai Accent (1995-2003) and had no major issues with it.
