In Magic the Gathering, how exactly does Diminish work?
Say you have a 3/3 creature whose power and toughness are augmented by Equipment or Enchantments to be a 5/5. Their opponent casts Diminish which reads; "Target creature becomes 1/1 until end of turn" on it.
Does the creature become a 1/1 but the bonuses gained from the artifact or enchanments still apply, effectively making him a 3/3 (providing the enchantments and artifacts give it +2/+2).
Or does the creature become a 1/1 no matter what Artifacts or Equipment are attached to it?
7 AnswersCard Games10 years agoWhen someone says "vaycay" instead of vacation do you have to resist kicking them in the shin?
Because sometimes it's a challenge for me. A challenge I fear one day I won't be able to over come. But in my defense, they had it coming.
8 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoDoes a well used kneaded eraser become infested with bacteria?
I have a very well used kneaded eraser that sits by my computer. Even when I'm not drawing I'm absent minded squishing this thing and pulling it apart. It's passed that point when the oils from your hands have saturated it and it's lost that fresh-from-the-wrapper stiffness and the graphite has darkened it substantially. When I was just squishing it a moment ago I remembered a new kneaded eraser that I had to throw out because it smelled...unholy.
Do these things live an expiration date?
What are they even made out of?
Am I risking some horrible necrotic infection every time I go to use it?
7 AnswersDrawing & Illustration1 decade agoMTG: How conspire works with cards that have sacrifice as an additional cost?
If I use Conspire to copy "Fling", do I need to sacrifice a second creature? Fling seems to say that the sacrifice is part of the casting cost, and not the effect. Please offer a reference for your answer, thanks!

Or could the lesser nobles like Duke or Barons anoint people as knights.
Obviously, my google searches has failed because I have no idea what the vernacular is surrounding this :)
8 AnswersRoyalty1 decade agoF12 = -F21; that's the formula written in my physics book. Is it wrong?
In this book, which isn't very good (there is horribly drawn cartoons and the author goes on rants about how other sciences are sloppy...), for Newton's Third Law they write this formula " Force12 = negative Force 21". But if everything has an equal and opposite reaction should it it be F12 = - F24? Or F12 = -F12?

Both seem to describe how how receptive a material is to developing a magnetic field when in the presence of a magnetic field.

1 AnswerLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoWhat is the dimensions of the picture on a Magic the Gathering card?
It's for an art project. I plan on cutting out the pictures to create a grid pattern within a frame to create a design. But in order for me to plan this project in class, where I don't have any magic cards with me, I need to know the height and width. Please hurry, the teacher is beginning to suspect I'm wasting time on Yahoo Answers.
She's totally right by the way.

7 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoIn Magic the Gathering, if you put a card from your library onto the battlefield, is that card "played"?
The situation in question is with the Seahunter and the Merrow Reejerey. The Seahunter's ability reads: 3 colorless and tap to search library for a Merfolk card and put that card into play.
The second ability of the Merfolk Reejerey reads: Whenever you play a merfolk spell, you may tap or untap target permanent.
By using the Seahunter's ability to pull, say a Coral Merfolk to the battlefield. Does that count as "playing" the Coral Merfolk, and activating the second ability of the Reejerey?
7 AnswersCard Games1 decade agoIn Magic the Gathering, can you play Tribal Merfolk Sorceries with Seahunter's ability?
Seahunter is mercenary creature with the ability;
"3 colorless, tap: Search your Library for a Merfolk card and put that card into play. Then shuffle your library"
Does that merfolk card have to be a creature or could it be one of the Tribal Sorceries like Summon the School?
5 AnswersCard Games1 decade agoIn Magic the Gathering, does a Tribal Sorcery - Merfolk count as a "merfolk" spell?
The Stonybrook Banneret has the ability of "Merfolk spells and Wizard spells you play cost 1 colorless less to play".
Would Merrow commerce, a Tribal Enchantment - Merfolk cost 1 less to play if I have a Stonybrook Banneret out?
3 AnswersCard Games1 decade agoIn Physics, how do I calculate the average mechanical power that an engine needs when accelerating over time?
The full question reads: A large truck (m = 3300kg) accelerates from 15 m/s to 27m/s in a time of 15 sec. Neglecting any friction or air resistance, find the average mechanical power that the truck's engine must supply. (Answer in Watts and HP = 746W)
In my notes I have two different formulas that the professor gave us in order to figure this out. The first is Power = delta weight over delta time. The second one reads Power = delta energy over delta time.
Now, I can't be sure if he mixed up "energy" and "weight" when he described it a second time. Because I don't know where energy comes into play in the above question. Or am I supposed to do both?
3 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoWhat would happen if you ate asbestos or fiber glass?
I'm working on a Batman story and that wacky Joker is going to slip some fibrous material into cotton candy so a bunch of kids wind up with a tummy ache, then eventually horribly maimed or dead. You know, for a laugh.
The compound being fibrous isn't necessary by the way. I just need something (mineral, textile, chemical, etc) that could be slipped into a candy and cause a horrifically painful demise.
Also, this compound needs to have been invented by 1930
