  • Does CAS latency really matter?

Basically I'm looking at some different RAM sticks for a PC build.

    The two sticks:

    G.Skill Ares CL11 2133MHz @ £55

    Kingston HyperX Beast CL9 1600MHz @ £64

I was just wondering is there a noticeable difference in performance for gaming to justify spending more for a lower latency?

  • Why's there so much hype around The Legend of Kora?

I don't understand why this is hyped up as much as it is and it's not just kids hyping it, from what I've seen a lot of adults are hyping it up as well.

Obviously with it being talked about a lot I though I'd check it out and honestly... I don't see why people are getting excited over this. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent show, but people are over reacting about it if you ask me.

  • Can I use this 2.5" notebook drive in my PC?

    Drive: http://www.newegg.com/global/uk/Product/Product.as...

So I'm planning to build my own PC soon and I was wondering if I could use the drive from my notebook and migrate windows onto an SSD. I think I can but I'd rather get a few more people to clarify it before I build it.

  • NVIDIA GTX 760 or AMD R9 270?

Which one is better for the price?

I've had a look at various comparisons and they seem close to the same for performance, with the 760 obviously performing better. So, I was just wondering is a 760 worth the extra price or should I go for the R9?

Just some extra bits if info:

    I'm using an i7 4770 and I'm planning on getting a 2 GB card.

  • VRAM and DDR3 SDRAM?

So I've been looking round for a PC and I may have found one but it was 12 GB of RAM so I deicide to go for an 8 GB setup and I checked to see if they were the same apart from the amount of RAM and the type of graphics RAM.

Basically both setups use a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 but one says VRAM and the other says DDR3 SDRAM.

After searching the web I came across a forum that said companies market DDR3 RAM differently but the problem is... they both use the same graphics card and both setups are from the same company.

So basically, is there any difference between VRAM and DDR3 SDRAM?

  • -UK- Question about running a red light with an emergency service vehicle behind you?

First off I don't drive so if I'm supposed to know this then that's why I don't

Anyway, this just recently came to mind. If you were driving in a built up area, say London, and you had an emergency vehicle coming up behind in service (so it has the sirens and lights going off) but you are stuck at the light as they juts changed to red and all the lanes are block. Would it be legal if you ran the red light to allow the vehicle through or would they need to wait until the space to pass becomes available?

  • Why do stores in the US show product price without tax?

Okay, so first off I am aware that each state is different and some stores or even whole states may show the price with tax but I was just wondering why the shops that don't display price + tax do that. .

Surely for smaller purchases (such as 5 items or less) it would be easier to show the tax with the price so the customer can have their money ready before getting served. In certain situations it would be useful, say you get some stuff from the shop and you expect it to be less than $20 but when you get to the till it comes to say... $21.42, you then need to fiddle around and find more notes or coins. It saves that little bit of time for the people behind and could mean an extra customer gets served. Sure it doesn't make all that much of a difference with large purchases because you aren't going to remember the price tags of all the items but it's the smaller things that count. To me it seems strange but then again less than 10% tax seems like heaven compared to the 20% here in the UK.

I also wasn't too sure about the category to put this in so sorry if it is in the wrong one.

  • how good are these for gaming?

I've found a few laptops that I'm interested in I'm aware that desktops are better for gaming but I haven't got a place to put a desktop. There's 4 that I'm interested but 1 is a sort of back up just in case my budget goes down.

    Option 1:

Interests: Cheapest of the MAIN three, Touchscreen.

With this being Windows 8 a touchscreen actually seems useful

    Specs:

    Intel i7 4500U @ 1.8-3.0 GHz, 4 MB cache

    1 TB HDD @ 5400 RPM

8 GB DDR3 RAM (Maximum of 12 GB installable RAM)

    15.6", LED, 768p, 10 point mutitouch screen.

No information on the graphics side...

    Option 2:

Interests: Photoshop included, various programs from the maker that I already use on my phone), NFC capability

    Specs

    Intel i7 4500u @ 1.8-3.0 GHz, 3MB cache

    1 TB HDD @ 5400 RPM

8 GB DDR3 RAM (Maximum of 16 GB installable RAM)

NVIDIA GGeForce GT 740M with Optimus technology, 1 GB of memory

    15.5" LED 1080p display

    Option 3

    Interests: Screen size

    Specs:

    Intel i7 4700 MQ @ 2.4-3.4 GHz 6MB cache

    1 TB HDD @ 5400 RPM

    12 GB DDR3 RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M, 2 GB memory

    17" LED 1080p display

Backup Option: This option is just in case my budget drops down, I don't really expect it to compete with the other 3 but I'd like to know how you guys would rate it.

    Interests: Cheapest of the lot.

    Specs:

    AMD A10 5745 GPU 2.1 GHz, 4MB cache

    1TB HDD @ 5400RPM

    8GB DDR3 RAM

    AMD Radeon HD 8610G / 8670 Daul GPU, 2 GB DDR3 Memory

    15.6" LED 768p

  • What would you consider a Phablet?

Just wondered what you guys would say the max a phone could be before it becomes more tablet than phone.

Personally I consider anything bigger than the Z1 or Galaxy S4 to be a Phablet.

  • Is there error codes that Microsoft don't know about for Xbox?

I just got an error (0x87DD017) on XBL when trying to sign in. It works now but I tried searching Google and nothing came up so I decided to try Microsoft's Xbox error code search and nothing came up when I searched for the code. It makes me wonder if there's error codes Microsoft don't know... or at least don't want us to know.

    Option 1:

    Intel i7 4700MQ quad core @ 2.4GHz

    16 GB RAM

    NVIDIA GeForce GT750M 2GB of DDR3 memory

    Option 2:

    Intel i7 4702MQ @ 2.2 GHz 6 MB cache

    16 GB DDR3L RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GT750M 4 GB of GDDR5 memory

  • (For gaming) Is there much difference between the two realistically?

Would the better option offer much difference compared to the other?

    Option 1:

    Windows 8.1

    Intel i7 @ 2.2 GHz, 6 MB cache

    16 GB DDR3L RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M Graphics card with 4 GB GDDR5 memory

    900p HD display

    Option 2:

    Windows 8

    Intel i7 @ 1.8 GHz, 4 MB cache

    12 GB DDR3L

NVIDIA GeForce GT 735M with 2 GB (type not stated) memory

    1080p wide colour gamut display

Personally despite what looks like lower specs I'm drawn towards option 2 because it has some features that I may find quite useful (I wont state them to avoid the possible biases against companies) but it does cost a bit more. The only thing stopping me from buying it is that I don't know how much of a difference there is for gaming compared to option 1.

For the sake of comparison how well would the two run say... Skyrim on the highest settings.
