Hey everyone, I have a few questions about your culture and day-to-day life, anything you can answer will be really helpful. I will most likely be in the Sydney area, but a general view of Australia will work, just to get the most answers possible.

1) What are the jobs available like/job market? (NOT career, just a job).

2)What are your view on canadians/canada in general? Should I make it clear somehow that I am not american?

3)Views on alcohol (do you drink it like in france at every meal, or do you drink it casually throughout the day, or just to get drunk at dinner/bars and clubs?)

4)Speaking of clubs, how is the nightlife?

5)How big is the gay/lesbian community, do they have separate bars from "straight bars"...is it uncommon to see a straight guy in a gay bar, or a gay man in a straight bar?

6)Public transportation (mostly sydney area) how are the buses...or is it taxi? Prices/fares?

Americans, how do you feel about possibly not having enough money to pay off your debts, will any of you consider moving to another country...because from an outsider looking in...you are in the hole, it doesn't look too good!

Hey everyone, I am 18.

I can have my visa to work and live in Australia in November, but my mom wants me to go in January (after christmas) I would prefer to go in October/November instead of Jan/Feb.

Obviously you don't know the whole story or my life details, but in your opinion should I go for Oct or Jan, and why? Is there specific pros/cons to either month.

Hi. I am a canadian guy, coming to Australia (most likely the sydney area) to work for a 12 month period.

I am very excited, but also very nervous...but I know it is something I want to do.

So I have questions about how much does the average male (18-25) spend a day.

(on food, transportation, clubs, drinks etc...)

I do not have my license, so I assume your public transit is mainly buses, how can I get a ticket for that, is there some sort of package deal I can get for tickets (weekly bus pass?) if not how much per day does the average person spend to get around...?

Really anything you can offer to tell me about or help me understand will be really helpful!

Food, money, people, culture, customs, things to avoid, things to always/never do, best places to shop on a budget, transportation, clubs, places to work for a young guy.

Hey, I am coming to australia for a year to experience the culture, and nightlife. I also need a job so I can afford to stay. I want to work abroad, right now I am living in Canada. I am extremely serious about this.

Any tips, suggestions or help on places to work for an 18 year old would be great. I am a pretty friendly guy, not looking for a career, just looking for a job (what is easiest to find, bar tender, waiter?)

I plan on being in Sydney for the most part, but am open to other places if the job market is easier.

I am NOT asking for a lecture or for someone to say "this will never happen, don't try kid"...no pessimists please, only looking for help from the people who know what is possible, and are able to help me find it...

Any suggestions on the following would be great:

-best way to get around

-best place to get a job

-places/things to avoid

-good nightclubs and bars

-community centres to meet new people
