  • I need to think of something...?

to get my boyfriend for his birthday. It's the 29th of October.

I'm asking in this section, because I am 29 weeks pregnant, and because I just love you ladies. :]

My pregnancy has been crazy, as we found out our daughter has Tricuspid Atresia, a very serious heart defect, and I need to dedicate this day just to him. All we've been doing is driving ourselves crazy thinking about the what ifs so I want to make this day extra special for him. Ideas? Anything I could buy for him, anything I could do for him? Please any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

  • I need ideas for my boyfriend's birthday...?

His birthday is the 29th of October,. and as we are expecting a baby in December, we are a little tight on spending money. I'm wondering what I could get for him, or do for him? Any ideas would be appreciated. I just want him to know that I am thinking of him, as this pregnancy has been a bit crazy, and I want to take a day to just talk about him and celebrate him. Thanks.

  • What is she kicking in there?

I'm 27 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. And once in a while, I can feel that she is down low in my tummy, and she'll move just right, and kick something pretty low that sends a pain through my vagina... It feels like a little lighting bolt of pain. I don't know if this is normal? If this has happened to anyone else? And what might she be hitting down there?

  • This is kind of a sad question...?

Anyone on here who's baby has a serious heart defect? Or a child who had one at birth? Anyone who had to watch their baby have surgeries?

My little girl is missing a ventricle, and her arteries are reversed.. Her amniocentesis came out perfect though, so we are going to go through with the pregnancy, and she will undergo three surgeries withing 2 years of life. The defect she has is called Hypo Plastic Left Heart Syndrome.

I'm just looking for someone to talk to... and hear about any experiences..

    Thanks.

  • Anyone been induced?...?

I'm going to be induced around 36 weeks.. which will put me at the first week of December. Has anyone else on here been induced? And does it hurt as much as everyone is telling me? What should I expect? I mean...will I be induced at say 7 A.M. and have a baby in my arms by 4 P.M.? How long did it take for you?

    Thanks.

  • I just need some inspiration...?

If you guys have red my other questions on here, then you would know in detail about my soon-to-be daughter's heart defect. In short, she has one ventricle and her two major arteries to her heart are reversed.

On the good side-- I had an amniocentesis done, and the results all came back clear, and normal!!

On the weird side-- I also only have two major veins in the umbilical cord, versus three.

Anyways, I'm just looking for some inspiration. As you can (maybe) imagine... some days are not the best.

Some days I find myself wondering why me? Why my kid? What did I do to deserve this karma? And other days are great and I know that I would have miscarried if I was not meant to carry this child and have her in my life...

Can anyone just give me some things to think about to stop me from having my bad days, or maybe to turn them around?

    Thanks so much.

  • When am I going to have time to...?

    Do anything... [[read on]]

So, I'm 5 and a half months pregnant with a baby girl. She has major congenital heart disease and will be undergoing a series of three surgeries when she is born. Once at 3-4 weeks, the next at 4-6 months, and the last at 2 years of age. I am fully prepared to be spending A LOT of time at the hospital with her. It's my boyfriend's senior year of high school, so I am not sure how much he can be there with me and still graduate on time.

    [[I am 18, I will be 19 when I deliver, he is 17, will be 18 when I deliver]]

Now, I'm wondering, when am I going to get to go back to school? I have my high school diploma, graduated in 07. Finding out that I have a very sick baby has actually made me want to become an ultrasound tech. This is a 16 months program at the school that I want to go to. But I know the first year of my babies life I will be right be her side. But when in the hell am I going to have the money and time to go back to school?

And, my boyfriend and I have had plans to get married. When his family found out I was pregnant they kind of pressed the whole "get married now" thing. We didn't fall for the shotgun wedding, and now I wish we had. When in the hell is he supposed to find the money to buy a ring and propose to me? And when in the hell would we get married?

I know that having this baby is what I want to do. And I would have miscarried if she wasn't supposed to have this chance at life. The surgeries have good success rates. I am glad that I am going through with this pregnancy. I just want to know how I can manage all of this? I need a decent paying job eventually. And I need the money to pay for college eventually, let alone how much these three surgeries are going to cost. And I want to be married NOW, but that's not going to happen...And I know the stress of the baby is going to come first.

I just want someone to give me some ideas, or personal experience, or opinions, or anything, really.

  • So we found out yesterday...?

That the baby has congenital heart disease. Pretty much, one of her ventricles didn't form all the way, and the two major arteries that pump blood to your body, and to your lungs, are switched. When she's born, [which I will be induced in Portland probably around 37 weeks] she will have to go through 3 surgeries. The first will be between 3 days and 2 weeks of being born. The second will be between 4 and 6 months. And the final one will be when she is about 2 or 3 years of age. There's been a pretty good success rate for this type of surgery, so we're just hoping that all goes well when she gets here. I also had to have an amniocentesis yesterday to check for problems in her chromizone make-up. [[There is also a problem with the ambillical cord only having two major veins, instead of three, so this was more cause for concern.]] If there is something else genetically wrong with her, then we will most likely discontinue the pregnancy. So, we're hoping the amnio comes back okay and the rest will be up to Ava. :]

I hate to say this...but somedays, like today I find myself hating people who have been able to have healthy babies. Why did it have to be ours that is so messed up?

I just need some hope, and any personal experience, please?

    Just keeping you guys updated...

  • Heart defect...solution?

I'm pregnant and I had my 20 week scan Tuesday, and yesterday I got a call from my doctor telling me to come in so we could talk about the ultrasound results. So, I went in..and it appears that my baby is missing a ventricle. [Ventricles are the bottom two chambers of your heart] So basically, my little girl only has one, with no wall to divide the two. One ventricle makes blood and oxygen go to your lungs, while the other makes it go to your body.

I'm currently waiting for a call to go see a specialist to have a level 2 ultrasound done and to talk about whether or not I should continue the pregnancy and whether we could operate, or not.

Does anyone know the commong outcome of something like this?

    And personal experiences?

  • What can I do about back pain while....?

What can I do about back pain while I'm at work? I'm a receptionist, so I'm sitting at a desk all day...which I figured wouldn't hurt my back, but it is.. Is there anything I can do, a way I can sit, that would make my back feel better?

Also, my back cramps while I am sleeping and it is just about the worst pain i have ever felt...

And, a few mornings ago, I got up to go pee, and while I was peeing, it felt like my side had been ripped wide open. It hurt so bad. It was almost the same cramping I feel in my back. Does anyone know what I can do to make these discomforts better?

Sorry this was so long, and I am 21 weeks pregnant, by the way. Thanks for your answers!

  • Asking again as I didn't get any responses...

I've had a hernia since birth, from my umbilical cord, right above my belly button. I am wondering if anyone else has had this, and during pregnancy if there was anything you could do to ease the pain when it acts up? Even if you have never experienced this, opinions?

Sorry I'm asking so many questions, I'm at work--bored, and yahoo won't let me answer any questions right now.

  • What did your baby feel like at 20 weeks?

When you were 20 weeks pregnant, and could feel the baby move, what did it feel like to you?

  • At 20 weeks...is this the baby?

I keep feeling this strange little feeling where the baby is. It's almost like gas, but there's no gas to be passed... And it's not quite like anything like movement has been described to me before.. It's just this little tap tap tap and then it's gone.. like I said, not like popcorn, and like gas, but no gas to be had.. And more frequent then a gas bubble.. It's almost like, a little pressure, and then it's gone... is this the baby, or not?

  • What can I do about this?

I'm 18w2ds pregnant, and since 13 weeks, if I don't eat for a while, or directly after getting up in the morning, then I get super dizzy, and lose my sight and hearing...

So, obviously, eat...which I do..but food is making me SO sick..

I feel a bit dizzy and just off, so I just ate two small granola bars.. but I still feel sickly, and I'm at work for another 20 minutes, and have a 40 minute drive ahead of me..

Is there anything I can do to help the dizziness without eating?

And what can I do to prevent the dizziness altogether?

  • Why do I still feel?...?

Like I am not pregnant.. sometimes, I mean.

I am 16w2ds...So it's had time to sink in..I've known since I was 4 weeks, or around there.. And I can even slightly feel the baby move now. I scheduled an ultrasound for this coming Monday (16w5ds) to hopefully find out the sex, hoping that will make it all seem more real. I've heard the heartbeat, and had two other ultrasounds..

Is this normal? How long did it take you to really really realize you were pregnant?
