3 AnswersPolitics8 years agoActual Debate: Does today's powerful central government reflect the original intent of the Founders?
Where an excess of power prevails, property of no sort is duly respected. No man is safe in his opinions, his person, his faculties, or his possessions.
Where there is an excess of liberty, the effect is the same, though from an opposite cause.
"Government is instituted to protect property of every sort; as well that which lies in the various rights of individuals, as that which the term particularly expresses. This being the end of government, that alone is a just government, which impartially secures to every man, whatever is his own."
-James Madison.
Isn't this government more interested in taking your property away from you rather than protecting it? We argue about things that the federal government was never intended to be a part of anyway. They should be arguments within each state, not on the federal level.

8 AnswersPolitics8 years agoDo you believe "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross"?
..like Sinclair Lewis quote?
Why or why not?
7 AnswersPolitics8 years agoHow could a candidate for President go wrong being fiscally conservative and socially liberal?
...Other than, you know, that whole primary phase?
5 AnswersPolitics8 years agoHow come the 'makers' couldn't make better candidates for the presidency?
Let's face it, Obama was handed an absolute cakewalk for his two elections.
First McCain with an idiot VP candidate(hoping to get those Hilary supporting women liberal enough to vote for a woman...ernnt)
...and then Romney with an idiot VP candidate (who scared the crap out of even moderate Republicans with his rhetoric while confusing them with his Big Government voting record under Bush)?
At least Biden's a professional idiot.
6 AnswersPolitics8 years agoWhich side was willing to give away more free stuff to win the presidency?
Sure I've heard that Obama won because people are lazy and wanted "free stuff." But do you honestly think "free stuff" isn't an election ploy played by both sides?
What? Big Business, Big Oil, Halliburton, Defense Contractors, didn't all want "free stuff?"
When Franklin said “when the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic,” he also meant the people that lobby the government night and day like it was investment work...because it actually is to them.
They see quite a yield on the investment, while we are too busy fighting amongst ourselves to be anything more than useful idiots.

5 AnswersPolitics8 years agoName the ways Liberals and Conservatives are alike..?
11 AnswersPolitics8 years agoWho's worse.. The uninformed or the misinformed voter?
And which belongs to which party, in your opinion?
5 AnswersPolitics8 years agoIs the anti-Obama mantra proof that the GOP took the liberal's Bush-bashing a little too seriously?
Or is it something else?
I'll be the first to admit the liberals did bash GWBush, daily it seemed--above what most Presidents have had to endure oftentimes. I think that also speaks to our surge in media during those times--the beginnings of the 24 hour entertainment/news cycle--but I'll admit, whatever the cause, it was noticeable.
However, Bush was able to pass, with the support of Republicans and Democrats alike, just about anything he wanted(save the privatization of Social Security). And this was even after the 9/11 'rally around the flag mentality' had faded, and the Iraq and Afghanistan War fatigue had set in.
Obama faces gridlock at every turn. I'll admit his own party is to blame on many occasions. The Democratic Party has as many opinions as it does representatives, and is running twice as few on backbone.
But the lockstep blockage by the Republicans is stuff of legend.
Why?
4 AnswersPolitics8 years agoSo many speculated Obama was abusing his power, but now that he included Congress, he's a wuss?
What gives?
He did what you wanted...that is if you weren't hoping for a bogus impeachment trial. So shouldn't Obama be given a little respect for being overly-democratic in this instance?
I mean it wouldn't have been the first time a Commander in Chief called for a single strike of this nature on his own, with no regard for Congress' approval.
