  • What are the disadvantages of a long hockey stick?

I use a stick that is my height when standing with no shes on. I don't know exactly where it lines up with my skates on, but it should be at the bridge of my nose. I've played twice with the uncut stick already and enjoy the long reach and shot power. I honestly don't feel like it effects my puck handling and ability to dangle much at all. In fact, I think it makes dangling easier because I have a larger range of puck control. Everyone preaches the same stick height formula, but I honestly have never agreed with it and have always preferred a longer stick. I was just wondering if having a stick that long actually has any effect on my shooting or puck handling that I may not be noticing. I'm 5'9" and use an uncut senior Easton Stealth 65s Cammaleri curve with a 5 lie.

  • I've been a hockey goalie 11 years, should I try out as a forward/defenseman?

**Please read the whole post to fully unterstand the situation** Thank you.

I've been a goalie my whole life (11 years), but I've always had a natural knack for having really good hands and stick handling abilities like a forward (better than some of my teammates at the high school level). I attribute that to my high level lacrosse playing. My college only offers a Division 1 lacrosse team, which I tried out for and didn't make the team my freshman year. I am going into my sophomore year and not sure if I will be disciplined enough to ge in shape and lose weight for a division 1 sport. My other option is club hockey. While club hockey is rather expensive, I know it's fun. My school plays ACHA Division II club hockey, and I have practiced with them as a goaltender. The problem is that there are two other equally talented goalies in my grade that have been the starter and backup for the team this past year. I have been attending some open hockey when I have breaks from school and I am usually one of the average or better players on the ice with pretty good competition, and I always net a couple goals and get assists. I will be playing as much hockey I can this summer as a forward to improve my skills. I feel like I have a natural talent for skating out even though I've spent years as a goalie. I'm wondering what people think about me trying out as a skater to make this team. I honestly do believe I am currently not too far behind the worst player on the team skill wise. I am small, quick and heavy (5'9" 205) and I love to hit (lacrosse). Just wanted to know what people think about this situation and if you think I would be good enough to play ACHA Division II hockey as my first real hockey team experience as a skater. I feel like I will improve a lot over the summer because I will be on the ice a lot. Do you think I should/could do it and make the team?

    - Thank you for reading the whole post and thank you to those who offer helpful responses.

TL;DR: I'm long time goalie who wants to be a forward and has good hands and is already a decent player/skater and wants to try out for for an ACHA Division II hockey team as a skater for my first organized hockey experience not as a goalie. Should I do it?

  • Are there any Hockey Helmet Decals with letters of the alphabet?

I Just got a new goalie mask and I have been named captain of my high school team. The problem is that goalies can not actually wear the letter "C" on their jerseys by rule. So I wanted to get a sticker (preferably green) with the letter C to put on the chin of my goalie mask like Roberto Luongo does. If anybody can list a website or store that I could buy a sticker of the letter "C" that would be great.

    -Thanks

  • will flexing my bass guitar neck damage it?

sometimes as a habit I tend to push the neck back and it flexes backwards a little bit so that the strings come closer to the fretboard. is it bad to do that and will it damage my neck?
