(Any state) Am I disqualified from becoming a police officer?
Short and sweet, I was hospitalized for Anger Management Junior year of HS in Massachusetts. I'm not on meds at all. My first hope was to join the army but that seems very bleak given the lack of waivers, so the police force is an obvious second choice.
Am I unable to purchase a firearm? Am I unable to become a cop? I know most of this will vary state to state and Mass being very liberal I find it unlikely, but would a more Republican state like FL or TX be accepting? If you're in law enforcement please include what US state you're in for your answer.
3 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police6 years agoEnlisting w. Anger Management History? US Army?
I'm currently 17. About 5 months ago I was hospitalized for anger management in the laughing factory. They gave me (meaning take these or we won't release you) meds while I was there but I refused to take them the minute I was released, and since the most I've taken is 500mg Tylenol. I was in there for 10 days however the doctor was a total quack, I spoke with her twice the entire time I was there.
I've already taken the ASVAB and I scored a 90. I doubt lying to the Govt is a good idea despite my recruiter's recommendation, especially when they're going to be my future health care provider. Given my high potential from my ASVAB score, what are the odds of getting a waiver? I feel like I would be better off waiting until another conflict broke out to enlist, when waivers are much looser, as well as having more time to prove there are no anger incidents. If I was DQ'd at MEPS for this, but a few years later the criteria changes for waivers, would I still be DQ'd?
Thanks in advance.
4 AnswersMilitary6 years agoGirl problem?
So I asked this question a couple times, and I've tried everyone's advice but it hasn't helped.
I'm a 17 year old guy , and for the most part very average. I'm 5"7, average build, and I think I'm at least decent looking. I own my own car, play guitar and dress nicely. But no matter what I do girls seem to think I'm invisible. I start conversations, but I either seem to bore them or confuse them (I'm in the top 10 percentile, and I'm constantly teaching myself new things so i think a little different from most people and understand I confuse people with my wording sometimes, or bore people with too serious topics. Sorry, not meaning to brag.) because all I get it "oh" and "cool yeah", or they blatantly ignore when I'm talking. I try to participate in groups at school, but it seems like all anyone wants to hear from me is my answers to the homework. I don't understand, Im chivalrous, smart and at least decent looking. Still, no girl wants to talk to me. I don't have many friends as it is but I'd think at least one girl would like me.
So, my question is, should I become like "those guys"? The ones who wear flat caps, skinny jeans and smoke pot daily? The guy with no job, no car and no money but for SOME REASON is so appealing, especially when he's disrespecting girls? Because those guys are all doing a lot better than me. It seems like all girls want these days is a guy to cuss at them and talk about sex constantly, acting like a gentleman gets me nowhere.
Thanks in advace.

Hi, I posted this once before but I'd like a couple more opinions. I will choose a best answer. I apologize if this is a long read.
I'm 17 years old from Boston, MA. I work construction after school and weekends as well as part time at an ice cream shop. I own my own car, and play guitar. But I have one major problem. Girls won't talk to me. At all.
So I've never really been a chick magnet. I thought I was decent looking but several girls have blatantly called me ugly...I'm not fat but im not ripped. I'm not tall but I'm not short either (unless you call 5"7 short? I think its average). I've got well kept brown hair and blue eyes. And I believe chivalry is dead, but I still try to live by it (meaning I hold doors, get the tab, and if a guy calls ANY woman a *****, slut, etc, I'll punch him in the mouth). Yet I have no luck whatsoever with girls. I had one girlfriend who loved me very much, but, I have a very apparent anger problem that I've since worked on, but its still there. That's why she left me.
So I guess my question is, why don't girls seem to like me? Should I start being an asshole to them, like half the guys I see? Slam the door in their face, skip the tab, and ignore them? Because those guys seem to be doing a hell of a lot better than me. I know it seems a bit premature to worry about these things, but I'm not going anywhere after high school. I'm stuck here and have no real motive, no reason to to do anything if I'm stuck by myself.
Thanks in advance.

1 AnswerComics & Animation6 years agoGot a speeding ticket in MA on JOL. Appeal Wednesday. Help?
I got a ticket for going 17mph (52 in a 35) over. I was rushing home from school because my mom was in a fight with my dad that eventually led to her leaving him. She told me she was worried it would become physical. If i lose my license, I will lose my job which is vital to my family's bill payments, and means of transportation to school, as will my sister who i need to drive to and from daily. What im wondering is...
Are there any laws against leniency in MA?
I read that you're either guilty or not guilty, there's no grey area. I was going to ask for leniency, to pay the fine and community service instead because i acknowledge it was a bad idea to speed like that.
Can the cop who ticketed me help me in any way?
I went down to the police station and talked to the Sergent who ticketed me, he asked me to write down my name and he would look into it. Did he tell the prosecutor what to look out for in my hearing, or can he legitimately help me? Can he rescind the ticket there and then because of his rank, therefore removing his testimony against me?
When answering please keep in mind MA state laws are ridiculously harsh, and the cop doesn't even need to show up to the court. The ticket is taken as written testimony and nothing else is required. Links to webpages are appreciated.
Thanks
