  • What is a good boy name to go with Maxwell Porter?

Our second boy is due in October and we are so far from finding a name for him! It was really hard with our first, but we settled with Maxwell (Max for short) after he was born. Our last name begins with an M and has 2 syllables. I'm not looking for another "M" name. We want a classic name that isn't too out there, but is unique enough that he doesn't have 3 friends with the same name. Please help! Thanks!

  • Which name do you like better?

I'm pregnant with our second child and the name hunt has begun. If it's a girl we are thinking Caroline, Eleanor or Eloise. Maxwell is our firstborn...Max for short. My husband's name is Travis and mine is Carrie. Last name starts with an M and has 2 syllables. All names sound good with our last name. I basically want it to fit into our family and relate well to all of our names (think Christmas cards). Not sure of middle names yet but considering Caroline Ava. What are your thoughts? Thank you!

  • How much breast milk or formula does your 11 month old baby drink before bed?

I'm just wondering if my baby is getting enough breast milk, which could be causing him to wake every 2-3 hours. I'm pregnant again, and my inability to eat/drink very much with morning sickness, is causing me to produce even less. I just pumped 2 1/2 hours after he nursed and only got 1 1/2 oz. he probably isn't getting more than 2-3 oz at bedtime. We try to fill him up with food at dinner, so he'll sleep 3-4 hours the first stretch, but then is up a lot the rest of the night.

  • What are some ideas for cheap food for baby's 1st birthday?

Because of my son's nap schedule, lunch time is the best time to have his party. That means that we'll need to feed everyone. There will probably be around 40 people. We are not rolling in the dough...so the food needs to be very inexpensive. Any ideas how we can pull this off on a tight budget?

  • 5 weeks along, according to ultrasound, but hcg level is higher than normal. What can this indicate?

My hcg level was 4000, 2 days before ultrasound where they only found a gestational sac that measured 5w0d. They had me do another blood test and I should have the results early this week, but I'm a little worried. What can it mean?

  • Pregnant and breastfeeding. My milk supply has dropped. What can I do?

I found out, this week, that I'm about 5 weeks pregnant. I've read that milk supply doesn't drop until the middle of the pregnancy, but I can tell my 9 month old isn't getting much. He's been nursing like crazy, every 1-2 hours, day and night, and barely ever seems satisfied. I've been trying to get him to take formula, but he doesn't want to. I've been adding a little formula to his purees, and then giving him a sippy cup with water afterward. I'm hoping to give him more nutrients that way, but not sure this is good to do. My questions are:

    1. Is there anyway to increase my milk supply?

    2. How do I get him to take formula?

Feeling a little helpless and somewhat guilty that my being pregnant with #2 is taking away from my 1st baby's experience. I had planned to nurse him until he was 2, but now it looks like I may have to wean him much earlier. Any advice you can give me is very much appreciated!

  • Should I wean my 9 month old?

I just found out that I'm pregnant. I don't even know how far along I am, because my cycles are so irregular. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow to confirm the pregnancy. I suspect that I'm around 4 weeks along. With my first pregnancy, I got horrible morning sickness at 6 weeks through 5 months. I was finally prescribed Zofran because I couldn't even keep water down. Zofran hasn't been proven safe during breastfeeding, so I don't want to take it. I'm just worried that I'm going to get very sick in a couple of weeks and won't be able to keep enough down to BF and maintain a healthy pregnancy. What do you think I should do?

  • What is the market like for Atlanta Photographers?

I am a new photographer starting a business in the northern suburbs of Atlanta and I'm just wondering if there is much demand these days. So far I've only done shoots for people I know and I'm looking to start advertising to increase my client base. I'm a stay at home mom now, and I need to make money to be able to stay at home with him. I'm just wondering if I should look for a job with a more consistent income and do photography on the side, or just go for the photography business full force. If you want to take a look at my work, visit

  • When do you consider it your baby's first official word?

When he says the word or when he says it and knows what it means? I'd like to know for his baby book. He's been saying Mama a lot lately, but as far as I know, he doesn't know that I'm Mama yet. Would you record this as his first word or wait until he connects a word with a meaning?

  • Do you, as an African-American woman, like the term, "women of color"?

I am caucasion, and my 6 month old son, always smiles at, and flirts with, African-American women. Wherever we go, they can just make him light up! My mom always uses the term, "women of color", to tell them that he likes women with darker skin, but I'm just wondering if you like that term or not. Thank you!

  • Will my baby get his top teeth first?

My baby has been teething for about a week, but after inspecting his lower gums I still don't see much. I happened to look at his top gums yesterday and saw these white bumps above his top for middle teeth. Could this mean that he'll get his top ones first?

  • Stay at home mom, watching another baby. How much should I charge?

I am a stay-at-home-mom of a 3 month old. I have a friend, who is having a baby this month, who has asked me to care for him when she goes back to work in November. She would need childcare from 7:45am-5:15pm (9 1/2 hrs/day), 5 days a week. What do you think is a fair rate per week or month.

Please keep in mind that I will be watching my son too, who will be 6 months old at the time. I should also note that I have been a professional nanny for almost 12 years, and most recently worked for a well known author. Also, we live in the suburbs of a large metropolitan city.

I don't want to cause any bad vibes or friction between the two of us, since we are friends. I would love to get your opinion on what you think would be fair for both parties.

    Thank you in advance!

  • Considering the name Knox for our son. Does it sound like we're trying too hard or trying to be cool?

I am less than a week from our due date, and my husband and I have had the hardest time agreeing on a name for our son. He came up with the name Knox this morning, and I think I really like it. His middle name will be Porter, a family name. So what do you think of the name Knox Porter Minton?
