  • How many mashed potatoes?

I'm making delicious mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving at my parents. There will be 14 people there. How much is going to be enough? Should I do 2 of the 5 pound bags of potatoes?

We're going over their house in the morning so I will be making them there. Do you think I can peel the potatoes the night before? Or will they get yucky? If I can do it, how should I store them?

Thanks in advance and Happy Thanksgiving!! :)

  • Is there such a service for maternity pants?

Does anyone know of a service that will turn your pre-pregnancy pants into maternity pants??

I really don't like most of the plus-size maternity pants so I'd much rather have over-the-belly panels sewn into some regular pants.

I live in the US (Massachusetts) so something in my state or some place that allows you to send them in would be awesome!

Please please tell me you know of a place that does this!

  • Pregnant and SO constipated! What can I take?

I'm 9 weeks pregnant and I'm so constipated I feel like I'm going to throw up. :(

I've been taking colace at night with my prenatals but it obviously isn't working.

I really need some suggestions! I'm in so much pain I want to call my doctor's on-call line but I feel really silly calling because I can't poop. :(

  • Experience with IntelliGender (Gender Prediction Test Kit)?

I'm debating buying one of those gender prediction kits. I know they're not scientific and could be a waste of money but it also sounds kind of fun.

So, have any of you used it? Were your results accurate? Would you use it again/ recommend it?

    Thanks!

  • Concerned about spotting at 8 weeks?

Last week (6 days ago) I had a vaginal ultrasound. The woman really jabbed the thing around in me looking for my ovaries. I had some light brown tinged discharge two days after the ultrasound. It lasted 2 days and seemed like it went away. Last night the spotting came back and its heavier. Its not super heavy, and only shows when I wipe after going pee.

I felt my cervix and it feels slightly open which has me really worried.

Has anyone had an experience like this and had a healthy pregnancy?? I'm worried sick!!

I should add: At the ultrasound the baby measured right on track for length and the heart beat was strong (150 bpm!).

  • Remedy for horrible nausea?

I'm 6w 4d and I have the worst nausea! I seriously had no idea one could be this nauseous and NOT throw up. I'm constantly feeling like you feel the second before you throw up, but it never happens.

I'm having this nausea morning, noon, and night. Nothing seems to help.

Does anyone have any tricks/ remedies that helped?

Any suggestions are welcome! I feel so yucky :(

  • Morning sickness and sex of baby?

I know there's an old wives tale that says if you have bad morning sickness/nausea or heartburn that you are having a girl.

I'm just wondering how many of you that has proven to be true /untrue for.

What symptoms did you have and what was the sex?

  • When did morning sickness start?

I got my BFP early and I'm only 4w6d right now. I've had some nagging slight nausea, especially about a week/10days ago around when I got my BFP. It hasn't been enough to be physically sick, but enough that sometimes I have to keep swallowing or take a deep breath. My appetite has also been kind of down as a result. I'm sure the nausea will pick up more in a week or 2, but I'm hoping I don't get it too bad. :(

So, for those of you who had morning sickness, when did it start?

    Thanks!

  • When did you start wearing maternity pants?

When did your regular pants started feeling too snug and you started wearing maternity pants?

Two women I know who are pregnant said at two months! That seems so early! Is that right?

  • What pregnancy books would you recommend?

Hubby and I recently found out that we're expecting. I'm 4 weeks 3 days along. I found out a little over a week ago! :)

Pregnant mommies, what book(s) did you find really helpful or enjoyable? And why?

I already bought "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and I bought hubby "The Expectant Father".

To be honest, I'm finding "What to Expect..." a little dry and boring. I know it has a lot of important info, but I'm having trouble getting in to it.

Any suggestions are very appreciated!! Thank you!

  • Are warm/hot baths safe?

I'm 4 and a half weeks pregnant and I really want to take a nice hot bath.

Would it be safe to do so? Or is there risk of something bad happening?

    Thanks!

  • Advice/tips for newly pregnant mom?

I just found out on Saturday night that I'm pregnant! Hubby and I are over the moon excited!

So mommies or mommies-to-be, what is some of the best advice you can give me for 9 months ahead? What things really helped you in your pregnancy?

So far I have the worst sore boobs! I had no idea they could hurt so bad so early on, I mean WOW! And for the last couple days I've felt queasy as well. Not enough to throw up, but enough that I have to keep swallowing or take deep breaths. I'm actually happy feeling symptoms because I feel like its my baby saying "I'm in here mom! I'm okay, I promise!"... Wow, just got a little teary there! lol!

  • How to deal with very sore breasts?

I just found out I'm pregnant yesterday and for the past few days before then my breasts have been very sore, worse by the day!! I'm just shy of 4 weeks and they are already killing me!!! I'm dreading what they will be like in a few more weeks!

I woke up 2 hours ago to pee and can't get back to sleep because they're so bad! Same thing happened last night. I already have DD's so they're kind of hard to tame. I've tried sleeping with a bra on, without a bra and nothing is working!!

Expectant mommies, how do you deal with and minimize breast pain??

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

  • OPK and EWCM timing question?

    Hi ladies!

This is my 2nd cycle using OPK's and charting BBT so I don't have enough cycles to show any kind of pattern for me yet.

I'm looking for everyones personal experience... Do you see EWCM before your positive OPK? If so, how many days before??

I had a small amount of EWCM yesterday and a lot of EWCM today but OPKs. What gives?

1 AnswerTrying to Conceive1 decade ago
  • Are these OPK's okay?

I recently bought the Target brand OPK's and I'm wondering if any of you ladies have used those and what your experience with them was? Were they accurate?

I'm just worried that they won't be as accurate as the First Response ones but those are pretty expensive so I wanted to give something else a try.

    Thanks for your input!
