  • Alice in Chains fans!?

    Heard their new single yet?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedd...

    What's your opinion on it? To me it feels a little like ALiV or Them Bones, but slower.

    Personally, I like it but don't love it. It's a bit 'John Doe Alice' to me, not that that's a bad thing. It is consistent with anything they have done. I really enjoy the verses, Jerry's guitar (as ever) and Will's rhythm, sludgy guitar bends, and his vocal harmonies with Jerry. They compliment each other wonderfully.

    The biggest criticism I can give it is that it seems like they chose to take few risks... The chorus (except the Silence, so loud! which is epic) is okay.

    Overall I think it is a solid effort, but I don't think it will be the main hooker on the album.

  • How much to refinish an acoustic guitar?

    Hello, I know repainting/refinishing a guitar is probably not cost effective, but I just started playing and I have an old Fender I inherited from my grandad who passed away. It's not much, he had way nicer guitars in his collection but it was his, so I would like to have it looking nice again.

    I was interested if anyone has ever done any work or had anything done to refinish a guitar.

    About how much would it set me back to have it done professionally? Is it something that a DIYer can do in his spare time or something best left alone?

    Thanks and much appreciated

  • When will the liberal and conservative finger pointing end?

    You keep blaming each other and you're both right. Both parties are doing a fantastic job of bending us over.

  • Question for the homebrewers out there?

    So during the fermentation process of making alcohol, if I make beer at home what is a good place to store while it ferments? I've always been told temperature makes a big difference. Would the garage work, or would a cooler place indoors be better?

    If it helps I plan on making Hefeweizen, nothing fancy.

  • Computer only has DVI input, TV has VGA and HDMI?

    Okay, I tried to connect my HDTV to my computer via HDMI, but I keep getting a 'no signal' message. Would a DVI-VGA converter work to hook these up together?

  • Recommend me some fall beers?

    Fall is nearly here, and who doesn't love a good seasonal brew? Maybe a Pumpkin Beer or Oktoberfest, it doesn't matter. What do you prefer to drink in the fall?

    I live in the midwest, so anything sold in Nebraska/Iowa/Wisconsin/Illinois/Missouri/ is a plus

    Much appreciated!

  • Would you sell an expensive item on Ebay to a buyer with no feedback?

    Okay, so I've been a registered member of Ebay for a year now, but I've only bought one item and I received no feedback from the seller. I seldom use Ebay, but now and again I look at items and if the price is right and one catches my attention, I may bid on it.

    Specifically, if I bid on a $300 PC, will most sellers be suspicious? 0 Feedback really shouldn't matter, I mean they don't ship items out until they receive payment do they? It doesn't matter if the person has 100% feedback for 100 transactions, you still wouldn't send the item until you receive payment for it. Or at least that's my logic. Any ebay sellers have experience with this? Much appreciated.

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 for modern games?

    From what I've heard, this is a decent mid-range graphics card?

    Do you think that this setup would be good enough to run Skyrim when it comes out, maybe some other newer titles?

    QUAD-CORE 3.2 Ghz CPU, I believe the processor is an AMD Phenom II.

    Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 Super OC 1GB Core Clock 920Mhz

    Ram: Kingston DDR3 Duel Channel 4GB 1600Mhz

    Motherboard: ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3

    600 GB Hard Drive

    I've been shopping around, and this is a custom build I've been offered, for about $350. I'm new to custom PCs and trying to learn, do you think this is a good buy? Thank you, and answers are much appreciated.

  • Would this be a good gaming computer?

    High, I currently have a simple Dell 1525 3 1/2 year old laptop, which I intend to keep for sheer portability and usage while traveling, ect.

    I'm looking to purchase a desktop though, for at home use and maybe some gaming. The one I'm looking at buying is a custom-built PC. Would this be a good setup? Right now I'm mostly concerned with Skyrim when it comes out, but maybe some other stuff too.

    * ASUS M4A7BT-E Motherboard

    * AMD Phenom II x4(quad core) Black Edition 3.4GHz

    * Thermaltake V5 Case (blue led fan on top)

    * ULTRA 500W Power Supply

    * Western Digital 500GB Hard Drive

    * ATI Radeon HD 5770 High Performance Video Card

    * 12GB of Corsair XMS 3 memory

  • Do you think in 20 years, we'll look back and say "Music was so much better then"?

    Historically speaking, we don't remember bands that we consider bad, so it's easy to say we didn't have as much 'bad' music a few decades ago. Do you think this will hold true?

    It seems like Pop artists come and go, there are a few that don't become old and irrelevant, but that's how most end up. It seems like most Rock bands hold onto their fans a lot longer and make a lasting impression.

  • Breakfast food poll: Pop-tarts vs Toaster Strudels?

    Let us decide who the true king of unhealthy, yet delicious breakfast food is.

    I'll start. I think most pop-tarts are garbage, but even though the s'mores ones are fantastic... I'll go with Toaster Strudels.

  • What beer(s) have a reputation for being 'girly'?

    I just turned 21 and was having a few beers with friends last night. During the course of the conversation, it seems readily apparent that some beers are more 'masculine' than others. Being that I'm a new(ish) drinker, and that it would be a travesty for me to undermine my masculinity in front of my friends, what beers should I avoid?

    Also, what beer tastes the best? I do like beer but I haven't had the opportunity to try many kinds. I tried a couple of light beers, and they tasted the same, with some being a little more flat or crisp.

    The only real verdict my taste testing led me to was to stay the hell away from Miller lite.

    Thanks!

  • Who is the greatest Grunge Vocalist?

    I'll say Layne Staley, but you can pick your Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, or Eddie Vedder if ya want.

    And although I love STP and Scott Weiland, I don't really consider them Grunge, except for maybe their first couple of albums.
