  • Which career choice is better?

In the current corporate work environment, which is better:

    1. Work as hard as you can, master a skill, and then keep that knowledge to yourself.

    2. Do just enough to get recognized on high profile projects without taking any real risks, and focus all your efforts on competing for promotions.

Please explain why one is better than the other.

    Secondary questions:

    Are either of these ethical?

Assuming you do want to make progressively more money over a career, are there any better choices in the current corporate climate?

(Dropping out to do something else is a different question, so let's just stay in the cubes for this one).

  • Abused\shy Dog question?

We have a dog we adopted from a shelter, who was abused. We've had him for about a year and we love him and he loves us. However, he still is very scared of every other person. Men in particular. Even the friends and family that come around to our house on a regular basis are still scary to him. He is not aggressive, but runs away.

So, is there any advice as to a process we can go through to help him overcome his fears? We really want him to have a better quality of life and be happier.

We did have one idea, what do you think of this?

We were dog sitting for a friend (our dog gets on fine with other dogs, just people he doesn't like) and the guest dog was very friendly when we had guests over, and it seemed to help our dog get over his fear a little, and stop barking and sit in the room, though he still would run away if someone came near him. However, seeing another dog be friendly with strangers seemed to help.

So, if we adopted another dog who was good with people, do you think that would help our dog long term?

  • Should efficiency and 'saving time' be a goal in life?

Technology, since the beginning, has been aimed at efficiency in completing various activities.

With technology so integrated into our every day lives now, should we allow this goal of technology to become a goal within our thoughts as well?
