New telescope and mount selection?
I have had a GOTO 5inch telescope for about 2 years. I am interested in buying a larger GOTO telescope. I am an amateur astrophotographer, and want to go to a larger instrument, 8 inch minimum, probably 10-12 inch. Does anyone out there have a Vixen 200, or Vixen 260, or similar sized Meade? I am also looking for mount advice. My budget is max around $5,000. I would like a 2 inch or larger eyepiece, but for now to still be able to use 1.25 eyepieces. Photo interests have been just lunar/planetary, but I want a telescope large enough to do deep space targets, with a different budget for a dedicated astro-camera rather than making do with a conventional digital camera.
What do some of you long-time observers suggest?
