  • is it wrong to say "sweetie"?

    I have a female friend who was offended when one of her aquaintences had called her "sweetie". She said that it is a degrading term unless it comes from a boy friend or husband.

    I said that I had never heard that before, people call me "Hunny" all the time (I'm a guy) and I thought it was just there way of saying "dude" or "fella".

    But she said that "sweetie" was a degrading term to women. Has anyone heard this before?
