If the public option is not dead how about paying for it in the following manner?
A one percent national sales tax on all non food items.
A firmly set premium schedule tied to your income.
If you make 17,000 a year you pay 17 dollars a month.
If you make 27,000 a year you pay 27 a month.
If you make 37,000 a year you pay 37 a month.
You get the picture.
Everybody pays. Support for the public option would dwindle under such a plan. That is just too damned bad. We can not expect one class of people to bear the burden.
