  • Can anyone help us find the perfect computer desk?

We're looking for a corner desk, medium wood finish. We're looking for something that will fit into a living room, not an office. My mother has specified that she doesn't want it to look "industrial" - there's a nice one at Target.com but it has like a metal mesh grate on either side of the upper shelf and she doesn't like it. We need to have room for the monitor, speakers, keyboard, and printer along with a space for the CPU and subwoofer below. In a fantasy world, this shelf below would be enclosed because I have a toddler who loves buttons. Links would be awesome!

  • A flaw in the Y!A System?

I'm a little frustrated by a flaw in the Yahoo! Answers system. I'm all for privacy, but something seems screwy here. I answered a question recently from a charming fellow who was pretty sure he was being screwed out of financial aid because he is white and the college financial aid office knew he was white when he was randomly selected to be audited. He can't pass the audit because he has no job and failed to report that he is living off savings, credit cards and a room mate. I would link you to this question but apparently I can't. When I choose it from my list of answers, I'm told that question can't be viewed. I responded something along the lines of "hey, I work hard and barely get any financial aid and this doesn't seem fair." Then I promptly forgot about the question until I got this message:

    "From: DC

Subject: you work good jobs, good for you

Message: why don't you quit your jobs and then get FULL FINANCIAL AID? Then you can try to mooch just like the rest of us!

oh that's right because you are lucky enough to have 2 jobs when other people can't even get one job, maybe you should quit a job so someone else will be lucky enough to work you selfish wh***.

well, I'd go on but the guy who responded to you in my question tore you a new one "

The email has a reply link, but since DC has his profile as private, I can't reply. He can call me a wh***, but I can't say anything back? Also, I can't see the question, so I don't know how I was "ripped apart," though judging from this message, I doubt it's going to make me feel guilty enough to quit my jobs so I too can get a free ride. Hey, DC, one of my "great jobs" is Walmart, and we're hiring. So I'm not being selfish by working the job, I'm being a responsible adult. Why don't you come on over and try it out?

So fellow Answerers, what do you think?

    1) Should answerers be able to see their answers even if the questioner has elected to not allow their resolved questions to be seen?

    2) Should you be able to reply to someone who has messaged you even if they have elected to not to allow messages? After all, they made the opening move here. Or should be who have elected not to receive messages not be allowed to send them either?
